Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the administrative director, performs a variety of secretarial and clerical duties and projects within the radiology department. Oversees the Radiology scheduling and call center department as well as the Radiology receptionists/registrars. Works closely with Radiology leadership to improve processes and build loyalty from referring practices. Works closely with the Patient Financial Services (PFS) team to manage the process for pre-authorization and denials. Basic functions and responsibilities include ensuring all radiology outpatient exams are scheduled in a timely manner, managing staffing to meet call hold time targets and problem resolution. The position supports Federal and State compliance and quality improvement / quality assurance when pertaining to both governmental and managed care payors. Serves as an escalation point for resolving the most difficult customer issues. Coordinates customer service activities with other internal functions. Makes decisions regarding personnel actions and activities. Serves as a super user, trainer and go to person for scheduling functions. Performs other related duties as required. This can be a hybrid position, 50% or more remote work permitted after a 90-day in office training and at the discretion of the Department Manager and Director. At least one Scheduler and/or the Radiology Office Supervisor should be on the Morganton campus during business hours.


Qualifications


Education: Minimum – College (associates or bachelors) degree preferred.


Experience: Minimum - three years call center, front office, or medical office management experience accepted


Other: Ability to type accurately using a computer; ability to enter computer data and operate a variety of software applications; ability to follow oral and written communication and complete projects and assigned tasks in a timely manner. Must be congenial and courteous during all interactions with others.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to concentrate on detailed work for prolonged periods of time; able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow. Requires working under stressful conditions and possibly working irregular hours. Must be able to lift light objects frequently; perform moderately difficult manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination skills; sit for prolonged periods; functional vision and hearing. Position requires ability to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for less than 10 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand and relate to specific ideas generally, several at a time, and be able to communicate verbally, using standard high-school-level vocabulary. Position may experience frequent exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital environment.
