Benefits Associated with this Position


  • Medical, Dental and Prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Rates are determined by participation in Wellness Program and use of tobacco products. Coverage is available on the first of the month following appointment date.
  • Life Insurance: The coverage amount is based on two and one-half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand with a maximum coverage of $100,000 and includes the same amount of Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage.
  • Fee Waiver Program: For the employee, spouse and dependent children: Staff may enroll in up to 18 hours of course work each academic year at a reduced rate. Spouses may enroll in 15 semester hours each academic year with 80% of qualified tuition waived. Dependent children of regular full-time staff who are full-time degree seeking undergraduate students at ISU may receive a fee waiver of 80% of qualified tuition for up to a total of ten (10) semesters.
  • TIAA Retirement Contributions: Contributions begin based upon the first day of employment at a contribution rate of ten (10) percent of base appointment salary paid in full by ISU. The contributions are vested immediately. There are 40 investment options from which to choose.
  • TIAA Auto Enroll: New employees are automatically enrolled in a tax deferred retirement program at hire: three (3) percent is deducted before taxes for the program to facilitate retirement planning. Employees may opt out of the program within 90 days.
  • Sick Leave: Accrued at a rate of 12 days per fiscal year with unlimited accumulation.
  • Long Term Disability Coverage: Employees are eligible after three (3) years of continuous, regular employment with the University. This policy guarantees approved disabled employees a 66 2/3 percent income protection (from all sources) after 180 days of continuous total disability. Immediate participation is available for current members of a comparable group disability insurance program within 90 days prior to ISU employment and that would have provided income protection upon disability for at least five years.
  • Vacation: Pay level 11 and below accrues up to 15 vacation days earned per year 1 through 4; 20 vacation days per year thereafter. Pay level 12 and above accrues 20 vacation days per year

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Director of the Learning Resources Center assumes the primary responsibility for providing a quality learning environment to enhance teaching / learning activities in the nursing program. The Director of the LRC reports directly to the Executive Director of Nursing and maintains a collaborative relationship with administrators, faculty, and staff within the College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services. The LRC is primarily located on the ground floor.

Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing; Experience: 1-2 Years; Minimum of two years teaching experience in a school of nursing with a minimum of two years’ experience in a of nursing learning resource center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Promotes the utilization of communication media and instructional technology in the nursing programs. Serves as consultant for technology resources for nursing program faculty, staff and students for on and off campus delivery. Develops and updates documentation relative to instructional technology. Serves as liaison between the nursing programs and the Office of Information Technology including serving as the nursing representative on various University technology-related committees. Assists with media equipment troubleshooting. Communicates LRC and nursing information as needed.
Manages Portal Announcements for nursing listserv. Manages SON Qualtrics forms in accordance with University policies. Also maintains SharePoint social media sites for nursing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Directs the operational activities of the LRC including the use of skills labs, space utilization, teaching and working with students, use of a variety of communication skills, equipment set ups, use of supplies, scheduling, storage and maintenance of the education/technological resources, including low and medium fidelity simulation. Provides an organized, appealing teaching and learning environment to promote development of nursing skills and incorporating critical thinking.

Maintains the repackaging/reuse program in nursing. Maintains supply inventory for repackaging – ie resealable pouches, individual items that are expendable – ie gloves, lubricant, adhesive dressing, ABD dressing, tape – considering cost effectiveness regarding cost benefit ratio of repackaging and purchasing these items vs purchasing new supply.

In collaboration with the SON Associate Director of Academics assigns lab space for courses offered each semester. Run a report of the lab schedule and share with the Custodial Supervisor. Saves the weekly lab schedule to the SON SharePoint site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Submits program and equipment grants that are beneficial to nursing and inter- professional student education. Supervises and evaluates LRC staff and receives student evaluations of LRC, which are studied with resulting plans/actions taken for improvements and updates. Prepares reports and related budgetary projections and expenditures as needed and collaborates with faculty to receive feedback needed for ordering appropriate resources. Establishes policies and procedures for the Learning Resource Center and works with faculty regarding policies and procedures for the SON. Inventory maintenance and tracking for all nursing departments, including those off campus in conjunction with Property Accounting. Timely response to inquiry emails to all departments/programs in the College submitted via the College web email address, the nursing web email address, the University web inquiry form submissions relayed by Marketing, and Slate. NURS 104 student volunteer program:
cooperative effort between NURS 104 faculty and me to allow students to complete some of their volunteer hours for NURS 104 in the LRC. They assist in lab setups/tear down, supply inventory, repackaging, equipment labeling/storage.
