AHRC NYC is looking for a RN Nursing Coordinator to oversee the Nursing Staff in our Manhattan residences. The Nursing Coordinator (NC) will supervise, direct and coordinate the activities of multiple nurses throughout our Manhattan residences.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (include But Are Not Limited To)


  • Work closely with agency QA team to ensure a functional, effective QA system and ensure regulatory compliance and successful DQA audit outcomes
  • Directly supervise Residential RN’s in assigned region.
  • Function as hospital discharge planner for hospitalized people supported in assigned region; conduct ongoing collaboration with hospital personnel, visit hospitalized individuals regularly, and assist RN’s with discharge training of all staff
  • Respond to emergency situations via 24 hour, on call status
  • Ensure nursing department regulatory compliance by oversight of treatment and documentation; monitor compliance of medical systems within assigned region
  • Function as the Residential RN for RN vacancies or leave of absences in assigned region
  • Collaborate with RN Education to develop specialized medical training, including medical guidelines and procedures; ensure a person-centered approach to trainings and guidelines; ensure all program staff receives adequate medical training; support Residential Nurses with additional training needs (i.e.: AMAP practicums, PONS training, etc.)
  • Collaborate with RN Educator to ensure AMAP training, certification and supervision of AMAP’s within assigned region; complete AMAP Certifications as needed
  • Assume basic responsibilities during RN vacancy to include report writing, incident reporting and attendance at meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Function as a coach, collaborator, facilitator and support system for Residential Nurses
  • Provide orientation training of newly hired nurses, as assigned
  • Participate and follow through on recommendations from committees as assigned (i.e., Mortality review, Incident review)


Qualifications


  • Must be willing to work in multiple locations.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, people supported, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s license highly preferred.
  • Must have the ability to implement the programs goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the Residential Nursing Services Department.
  • Must maintain the oversight of care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. and maintain the appearance of the site.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and handle stressful situations when circumstances warrant such action.
  • AHA or equivalent CPR certification.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work as member of a team.
  • Experience supervising large numbers of licensed and direct care staff.
  • Knowledge of OPWDD regulations
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse Licensure required.
