Non-Delegated Underwriter II
Location:
Remote Texas
What you'll do:
AmeriHome Mortgage is seeking a Conventional Mortgage Underwriters for our Correspondent Lending Non Delegated Group. The Underwriter II will be responsible for underwriting and reviewing Conventional loans by reviewing the credit, capacity and collateral characteristics of loan files to ensure it meets company and investor quality standards. This position has a remote working capability.
What we are looking for:
Responsibilities
  • Assist other department personnel in interpreting underwriting guidelines, update loan status, and complete all necessary tasks assigned to the loan.
  • Manage individual pipeline on a daily basis by completing simple and complex Underwriting Reviews, Conditions Reviews, and other Underwriting Tasks within established turn times
  • Expert ability to navigate and interpret all agency and company guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Contact clients to provide updates and clarification on outstanding conditions and deficiencies identified on loans
  • Identify any document deficiencies, request additional information and/or documentation from Clients as needed
Qualifications
  • Good Customer/Client service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Knowledge of FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines a plus, but not required.
  • Self-starter, self-reliant, dependable, ability to work within and meet specific time constraints
  • Loan quality and risk management
  • Proficiency with automated underwriting systems such as Desktop Underwriter and Loan Prospector
  • Ability to learn and adapt to guideline changes
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • College degree preferred but not required
  • 3+ years working in a remote underwriting capacity
  • Prioritization and Time Management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of FNMA and FHLMC guidelines.
  • 5+ years mortgage industry experience with a minimum of 3 years' recent, frontline underwriting experience, in a wholesale or retail lending environment
