This is a fulltime Network Engineer position/opportunity requiring demonstrated skills in the design and deployment of Palo Alto firewalls - includes designing rulesets, configuring security policies, performance settings, and implementing features like VPNs, NAT, and QoS.

Troubleshooting such as packet loss, and connectivity issues.

There will be some out of town support, 1-2 days of travel, 1 or 2 times a month, depending. We have 19 locations in upstate NY, Carlsbad NM, New Orleans, Virginia & Texas

Fulltime Requisition: Network Engineer

I. Summary:

We are looking to hire a Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure. You will be a team member of the Technical Architecture group and report to the SR IT Manager-Technical Architecture. This Network Engineer would be responsible for maintaining and any future changes of networks located at our primary and secondary datacenters. This would also include networks at our remote site locations in multiple states across the US. This Network Engineer will have firewall responsibilities. The Network Engineer will offer support to users, and staff members. As such, they need to have strong troubleshooting skills and be able to work with various personalities to resolve issues.

II. Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain environment by designing system configuration; directing and installing network infrastructure; defining, documenting, and enforcing network standards.

Closely supporting IT security in the management of corporate firewall policies.

Improve network performance by using monitoring tools to ensure system availability and reliability; troubleshooting problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with the infrastructure team on network impacts to the IT environment.

Install new / rebuild existing network infrastructure and configure firewalls, layer 7 switching/routing, wireless products, services, settings, directories, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

Apply patches and/or upgrades on a scheduled basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

Report systems Ops status by gathering, prioritizing information; and managing, delivering projects.

Analyze system problems, perform troubleshooting and incident response on the system and communicate with the appropriate personnel; manage problems through to resolution.

Support and perform IT Change Control best practices for predictable results.

Continuously update technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; and attending paid courses and sitting for certification exams.

III. Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of professional experience, or 7+ years of work experience that is directly related to the job responsibilities. Certifications are a plus, but not required (CCNA, PCNSE, PCNSA, etc.).

• Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
• Firewall experience ( Palo Alto 5-7 years of experience)
• VoIP skills would be helpful but not required.
• Installing and configuring various network devices and services (e.g., Cisco routers, switches, Palo Alto firewalls, VPN, QoS, WAPS)
• Demonstrated hands-on network engineering experience
• Flexibility to work on a range of network technologies, as needed.
• CCNP would be highly valued, not required
• Tuning Firewall Policies
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Performing network system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
• Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
• Forward thinker who designs for not only current business needs but, plans for scalability and longer-term solutions.
• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
• Work with established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and ultimate success of changes made to the network infrastructure
• Supporting a hybrid data center environment
• University Bachelor Degree is preferred, not required
• Soft skills such as organization, teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills to be successful in technical & business work environments
• Network Monitoring Tools: SolarWinds, etc.
