The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for two full-time Sales Associates for the Museum Store, located directly in the Museum on West 53rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. Reporting to Store Managers and Supervisors as assigned, the Sales Associates are expected to deliver a knowledgeable, thoughtful and inspiring customer service experience which plays an integral role in achieving the stores sales and metric goals. Additionally, the Sales Associates are expected to uphold MoMA's standards and to adhere to and apply Museum and Retail policies and procedures. Sales Associates are also expected to proactively connect to the Museum to support a holistic visitor experience.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Executes daily stock maintenance by ensuring that all merchandise and fixtures are signed, displayed, lit, and clean.
- Maintains a high level of Museum and product-related knowledge.
- Performs register transactions, including sales, memberships, email capture, and gift wrap.
- Participates in advanced education opportunities as offered.
- Maintains a professional and positive presence on the sales floor.
- Visits the Museum regularly to keep abreast of current exhibitions and collections gallery rotations.
- Participates in all MoMA Design Store, Museum, and vendor trainings.
- Participates in physical inventory.
- Complies with all zoning and scheduling.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
- Opens and closes cash registers and is held accountable for any discrepancies noted by manager.
- Advises Assistant Store Manager, Operations of out-of-stock merchandise and inventory discrepancies.
- Responds to customer inquiries and assists in making selections.
- Provides G.R.E.A.T customer service (Greet. Relate. Engage. Thank).
- Proactively reaches out and engages customers on a regular basis.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Attends product, vendor and customer service training.
Requirements:
- Minimum one year in retail sales.
- Strong verbal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Able to perform physical tasks as needed.
- Committed to delivering a high level of customer service.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Interest in design, books, art, and architecture is desirable.
- Fluency in language in addition to English language a plus.
- Proficiency with POS, email, Inventory Management Systems.
Salary: The salary for this position is $20.54 per hour.
