Job Description
Responsibilities:
We are looking to add a Mid-Level Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator supporting our Federal Student Aid Program. Candidate should have at least five years of hands-on experience as a production database administrator. The qualified individual will be responsible for meeting service level agreements covering performance, availability, backups, and security for several user groups supporting those application. Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations for the production environment.

What you will do:
  • Schedule, monitor, and validate database backups and restores.
  • Standalone, Windows Failover Cluster, and Availability Groups
  • Engage SMEs or vendors to resolve more complex incidents as required.
  • Responsible of complex database incidents and problems, providing resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Implement customer database change requests.
  • On-prem or cloud hosting (AWS)
  • Schedule and apply DB upgrades, patches.
  • Follow best practices, work plans, checklists, and defined processes.
  • Develop and maintain database support documentation.
  • Participate in project technical reviews. Lead work product reviews.
  • Implement Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Safeguard Computer Security Evaluation Matrix (SCSEM) hardening standards.
  • Proactively support application teams as needed.
  • Responsible on monitoring metrics collection jobs for performance, availability, and capacity planning though OEM.
  • Review NESSUS scans to remediate vulnerabilities and database compliance findings.
  • Develop, test, deploy and maintain security and audit solutions.
  • Install Microsoft SQL Server instances in various configurations:

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • Experienced in Microsoft SQL Server High Availability options (replication - transactional or log shipping and Always On).
  • Experienced in virtualizing Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 Years, OR a Master’s Degree and 3-5. Additional years of experience maybe accepted in lieu of the degree,
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Experienced in SQL Maintenance Plans, SQL Agent jobs, and Ola Hallengren's Maintenance Solution.
  • Minimum 5 years Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience including extensive production support required.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain at least 6C Public Trust security clearance.
  • Experienced of MS Windows Security Domains, Networking and Group Managed Service Accounts.
  • Experienced in AWS cloud operations supporting databases on EC2 instances.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Ability to independently work remote and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) agent for SQL Server is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience with transact/SQL language and programming experience/knowledge is a plus.
