Job Description

MAKE AN IMPACT!Join Carson’s Village as our Mental Health Program Coordinator and Advocate. TheMental Health Program Coordinatormanages Carson’s Village’s support programs.This position helps ensure that support needs and programming are in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Carson’s Village.OurAdvocateshelp families navigate the complicated decisions they face after the loss of a loved one.We are there to aid them in making sound financial and family decisions during one of the most stressful times of their life, as well as provide them resources for up to two years after the funeral.Along with providing assistance with identifying a funeral home and methods to pay for it and connecting families to resources, we also are there to provide emotional support. The ideal candidate is empathetic and well-organized with the ability to work independently to support grieving families through the various programs that Carson’s Village offers.We are hiring aMaster of Social Work(or equivalent) for this position so that they can use their skills to identify if any mental health issues need to be addressed before they are able manifest into something bigger down the road.To apply for this position, please send your resume to[email protected].

The Opportunity

The Mental Health Program Coordinator will help shape the programming and operational functions of the Carson’s Village outreach support.The position will also serve as an Advocate who works directly with the families.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for the coordination, maintenance, and management of the behavioral health programs that include:

  • Identify additional resources that might be needed to support our families
  • Identify and develop appropriate support groups given needs of population
  • Veteran Programming
  • Review documentation process and identify sources for improvement, as necessary
  • Consult in risk assessment and crisis management
  • Create programming for Children’s Bereavement Support
  • Mental Health Program Coordinator
  • Peer to Peer (P2P) Support Growth
  • Develop workshops and programs for Carson’s Village support needs

  • FAQ’s about the Advocate’s role can be foundhere
  • Review documentation process and identify sources for improvement, as necessary
  • Identify additional resources that might be needed to support our families
  • Lead families through intake funeral planning and grief support processes
  • Advocate
  • Consult in risk assessment and crisis management

Position Qualifications

  • Be available to respond to occasional on-call, as needed
  • Experience managing peer and group support programs
  • Behavioral Health/Social Worker with post graduate school degree/license of LMSW, LMFT, or LPC(required)
  • Crisis management experience
  • Thrives in situations of ambiguity
  • Have empathy and relationship skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient in Spanish (not required, but preferred)
  • Grief and Bereavement/Thanatology education, certification, or experience
  • Salesforce experience (not required but preferred)
  • Has attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communications
  • Case management experience
  • Well organized
  • Ability to condense information from multiple sources and communicate it
  • 5-10 years of field experience direct care (grief is preferred)
  • Dependable and meets deadlines
  • Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends, if needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Expectations

  • Pass a background check
  • Follow all Carson’s Village communications guidelines
  • Pay commensurate with experience
  • Part time (hours vary)
  • Have a quiet place at home to work in order to maintain confidentiality (office with doors)
  • Sign a confidentiality agreement with Carson’s Village
