Job Description
Position Summary
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) manages the MSL activities for the assigned area and provides medical information to internal/external health sources and executes the agreed operational plans.
Essential Functions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support company-sponsored trials, including site identification and capabilities assessment and study awareness initiatives
  • Support key opinion leaders and advocate relationship development and maintenance within the dedicated region
  • Serve as the primary MSL contact during field interactions with health care professionals (HCPs)
  • Drive and maintain compliant work practices.
  • Works with the individuals/team to eliminate the hazard/s
  • Deliver scientific/clinical presentations to payer groups and other managed market customers
  • Manage assigned programs within their designated scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure the work environment always meets the required health and safety standards
  • Represent MSL team on clinical study and project teams
  • Identify and implement unmet educational needs for MSL materials
  • Ensure individual MSL territory plans and activities are aligned
  • Establish and maintain a compliant partnership with the commercial team
  • Optimize communication of key learnings, best practices, and insights generation
  • Ensure employees working in a remote environment comply within the Company health and safety requirements
  • Be compliant with the health and safety protocols as defined for the location/region when entering the workplace
  • Report and action any environment, health, and safety hazards identified either in the location or remote working environment
  • Contribute and support safe and appropriate use of research compounds and products
Education And Experience
  • Accredited graduate degree in a life-science or basic-science discipline (Pharm.D., D.Sc., D.N.P., Ph.D., MSN or M.D./D.O.) required.
Required Experience
  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal and State guidelines and regulations essential
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint.
  • Ability to exercise latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments and future concepts.
  • Exemplifies and demonstrates company values and actively encourage others to demonstrate appropriate behavior
  • Ability to advise others on difficult employee matters including performance management
  • Experience using corporate databases and software, including SharePoint and Veeva essential
  • Ability to mitigate risk to achieve goals and outcomes
  • Ability to solve analytical problems, and show decision-making skills oriented towards delivering outcomes
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to foster relationships, gain alignment, adapt and change activities to achieve results and outcomes
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an MSL
  • Presents an understanding of relevant clinical and therapeutic matters
  • Ability to adapt communication and management style for differing audiences
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to align departmental and individual objectives & KPIs
Desired Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:
  • Demonstrated experience with direct patient care preferred
  • Prior experience with commercial and/or government payers and health care economic information is desirable.
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience with an oncology portfolio.
Physical Requirements
Following are physical requirements of the job to be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation:
  • This role also requires travel to the assigned geography requiring the ability to travel via train, airplane and/or car, and travel airports and to customer sites that may include offices, clinics, health systems, and academic institutions.
  • This job operates in both remote and professional office environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Physical ability to work in an office environment includes sitting at desks/tables for several hours at a time, standing, bending, accessing file cabinets, occasionally lifting objects that can weigh up to 15 pounds.
