The Role


Agenus is seeking an experienced solid tumor Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join an exciting opportunity within our Global Medical Affairs (GMA) team and work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. This is a field-based position and an extension of GMA organization. MSLs are responsible for developing professional relationships with healthcare professionals through scientific engagement to support Agenus clinical stage molecules. MSLs engage healthcare professionals through scientific exchange and provide clinical and scientific support.


In The Role You Will


  • Synthesize and communicate clinical and scientific insights to internal stakeholders
  • Act in accordance with company policies, including, for example, the Code of Business Conduct and ethics and Standards of General Data Protection regulations (GDPR).
  • Support Agenus sponsored clinical trials through investigators’ site engagement
  • Educate on clinical value, Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO), and economic analysis to payers, providers, and other appropriate stakeholders as requested
  • Execute on MSL strategy consistent with Global Medical Affairs product strategy
  • Advance MSL value proposition, demonstrate tact and professionalism, and deliver results
  • Monitor and analyze scientific publications, clinical trials, and competitive landscape in the assigned therapeutic area(s) and allocated regions.
  • Develop territory specific KOL and account plans including OL profiles, pre-call planning, and follow up plans
  • Document MSL quantitative and qualitative accomplishment
  • Support speaker training as requested and ensure speakers are up to date with evolving disease and product data
  • Identify and execute opportunities for scientific collaboration with KOLs and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate clinical and scientific information in an accurate and clear manner
  • Engage with healthcare professionals / entities to educate on clinical, scientific, and Real World Evidence (RWE) to advance the science and scientific collaborations as aligned with Agenus goals and objectives
  • Maintain clinical and scientific expertise and general industry business acumen
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries consistent with MSL compliance standards
  • Attend and present at scientific congresses and meetings to stay up-to-date with the latest scientific developments and trends in the assigned therapeutic area(s).
  • Support national, regional and local scientific congresses including Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement, poster /abstract coverage, and company debriefs


Qualifications: About You


  • BS/BA with at least 10 years of relevant experience focus on clinical practice, clinical research, or relevant oncology training
  • Five or more years of experience as oncology MSL in solid tumors
  • Industry experience in medical affairs / clinical development at a biotech or pharma
  • Oncology therapeutic experience in particular solid tumors
  • MD, PharmD, DO, or PhD (with relevant clinical experience)

  • Strong comprehension of disease states, and knowledge of differential algorithms for treatment decisions and experience in disease states of interest to Agenus.

  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects and/or colleagues in successful implementation of business-critical projects.

  • Ability to interpret key scientific data and translate the findings to meet educational and research needs to affect corporate research strategic activities/decisions.
  • Ability to travel
  • An expert understanding of the health care delivery system, including the managed care arena and its impact on patient care, regional medical care and the pharmaceutical industry. Ability to identify the unmet medical, educational, and research needs at a local & regional level in the medical community.
  • Impactful verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to drive results at a high level of quality as a strategic and creative thinker.


Computer Skills


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experienced with electronic CRM systems

  • Fluent in the dominant language in the assigned region
  • Other languages are an advantage
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
