Medical Laboratory Scientist - Point Of Care/Call Center - Saturday - Tuesday 7Am-8:30Pm

The hours for the position are:

• Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 7:30pm
• Rotate Holidays as needed
• Monday and Tuesday from 7am to 3:30pm

This position will work Call Center and Point of Care
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Performs all laboratory testing specific to the assigned section.

• Remains responsible and accountable for all actions.
• Remains knowledgeable and competent for all policies, procedures and protocols.
• Validates and evaluates new methodologies and tests. sets up connectivity with the help of technical support.
• Troubleshoots and maintains laboratory equipment.
• Completes, verifies and reports testing in a timely manner
• Complies with safety guidelines and procedures and adheres to regulatory mandates.
• Follows section's inventory control system to assure effective use of supplies and reagents.
• Demonstrates ability to perform all duties of the technical consultant including but not limited to initial training and competency on new medical laboratory scientists and health care providers on POC Testing according to the guidelines in procedure, maintaining training records according to CAP, CLIA and The Joint Commission guidelines, maintain supplies and deliver POC reagents to the units, etc.
• Ensures and verifies quality control data is appropriate for the complexity of the reported tests and prepare corrective actions as required.

-Manages all customer service interactions with diplomacy, actively facilitating resolutions to problems and addressing the needs of clients both internal and external. -Maintains proficiency on computer functions in the lab processes including but not limited to excel and different POC middleware.

• Stores patient information and results to allow easy future access as required.
• Analyzes and evaluates patient results correctly and appropriately to address Telcor Exceptions

Enhances productivity and laboratory lab functions by demonstrating dependability.

• Assists peers and supervisors with tasks after completion of assigned work.
• Adheres to attendance policy, begins work as scheduled.
• Adjusts, prioritizes, and organizes work to achieve maximum productivity to meet the workload demands of the section.
• Monitor POC operations by daily review of the POC database and quality checks rounds to the units performing POC testing.
• Works independently, utilizes resources available to maximize efficiency.

Assists in the development of laboratory personnel and tests, to enhance laboratory functions.

• Participate on new POC devices validation.
• Coaches and mentors students and employees.
• Participates in process improvement projects.
• Accurately trains and competency checks nurses, OR staff, physicians, respiratory techs and other staff requiring the need to perform Point of Care Testing.
• Validates database for new software or new tests implemented in the laboratory.
• Perform and monitor the Quality Checks required according POC device including but not limited to IQCP requirements.

Bachelor's degree -OR- Bachelor's degree in Molecular Genetic Technology -OR - completion of an accredited Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science program. With Bachelor's degree, one year clinical lab experience.
