Job Details


Job Title: Medical Assistant


Location: Minneapolis, MN 55455


Shift/Schedule: Day shifts, 3 Months


Pay Rate: $20-$21/Hr.


Hours Per Week: 40


Hours Per Day: 8


Days Per Week: 5


Duties


Performs delegated medical functions under the direction of a physician, authorized practitioner or RN in the delivery of care for all assigned patient populations, in accordance with all policy, procedure and practice guidelines. Supports providers in the delivery of patient care services. Prepares examining areas and patients for examination, procedure or treatment by physician or other authorized practitioner. Obtains vital signs and records patient's medical history and other relevant data. Assists physician with patient examinations, treatments and/or procedures. Administers injections or assists with treatments/procedures under direction of authorized practitioner. May perform administrative duties such as coordinating and monitoring patient appointments, In-basket management, admissions and/or procedures, organizes/maintains medical records and perform business-related tasks. As a health care advocate, supports patient focused care and provides patient instruction.


Experience: Previous ambulatory care experience preferred. Microsoft office and EPIC preferred


Coordinates and monitors patient appointments for provider visits, and procedure(s).


  • Monitors provider schedules and organizes patient through put.
  • Sends/receives patient medical record information following confidentiality guidelines and
  • Helps obtain/ensure diagnostic test results for provider/authorized practitioner review is
  • Available.
  • Verifies necessary forms requiring patient signature are completed.
  • Enters patient demographic and insurance information into EMR.

Delivers patient care as delegated by the RN to assigned patient population, or individual


patient.


  • Screens and follows up on test results.
  • Patient history employing critical thinking skills.
  • Prepares and maintains exam/treatment rooms for patient visits and restocks supplies as needed.
  • Maintains medication and immunization records.
  • Obtains and records vital signs.
  • Accurately documents care in the medical record.
  • Prepares patient for and may assist with examinations, procedures and/or treatments.
  • Adheres to infection control policies/procedures for exam room and instrument/equipment cleaning.
  • Rooms patient(s) and gathers data for patient assessment Obtains, evaluates and records.
  • Prepares and administers oral and parenteral (excluding IV) medications and immunizations as directed by supervising Provider and as permitted by state law.

Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:


Required Education


  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or LPN
  • MA program must be accredited through one of these two websites.
