What You Will Do In This Role
As a member of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant is a healthcare professional that provides clinical and administrative support to physicians, advance practice providers and registered nurses in the Pediatric Clinic.
What We Are Seeking In You
Credentialed Medical Assistant
High School graduate or GED equivalent is required.
Currently credentialed as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant.
Must be knowledgeable and proficient in basic clinical competencies.
Experience With EHR Is Preferred.
BLS certification preferred and must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained.
Must communicate effectively and work well with others.
Assertiveness, organizational skills, effective time management, flexibility and self-motivation are essential for the role.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position such as bending, stretching, kneeling, twisting, lifting, patient transfer, pushing, and pulling, etc. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
WHAT YOUR DAILY ACTIVITES AND EXPECTATION WILL BE IN THIS ROLE:
Clinical Responsibilities (may Include, But Not Limited To)

• Taking medical histories
• Preparing patients for examination
• Collecting and preparing lab specimens
• Removing sutures and changing dressings
• Other clinical services as required by specialty.
• Preforming basic laboratory tests including blood draws
• Injections
• Instructing patients via standardized pathways and protocols
• Timely follow through and completion of referral requests
• Assisting the physician during exams
• Explaining treatment and procedures to patients
• Preparing and administrating medications as directed by the physician.

Administrative Responsibilities (may Include, But Not Limited To)

• Quality
• Scheduling appointments
• Coding and filling out insurance forms
• Greeting patients
• Using computer applications
• Arranging for hospital admissions, referrals, and laboratory services.
• Answering phones
• Documenting and updating pertinent medical record requirements
