The Department of Dermatology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant 1 to work in Miami, FL. The Certified Medical Assistant 1 assists in the examination and treatment of patients, under the direction of a physician. Moreover, the incumbent interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. The Certified Medical Assistant 1 also draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.

• Assists in patient care activities such as dressing changes and leg wraps.
• Schedules patients for tests and completes required forms for laboratory work.
• Provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures.
• Escorts and transports patients to various hospital locations.
• Prepares treatment room for examination of patient.
• Assists with physical examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments and materials to the doctor as directed.
• Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
• Orders, stocks, and inventories supplies, and assists in performing clerical duties.
• Gives injections and treatments and performs routine laboratory tests.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
• Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments while observing principles of sterile technique.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
• This position will provide coverage between our 4 clinics as well as provide cross MA coverage.
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant Certification from the AAMA, NHA or AMA is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
• Acquire prior authorizations for medications or procedures as needed with insurance carrier when needed.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
• Obtain vital signs and patient information for inclusion in the patient’s medical record for multi-disciplinary Dermatology practice.
• Answer and return triage calls as well as provide patients with benign results.
• Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
• Order, stock, and inventories supplies and assist in performing clerical duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• May provide treatments, perform/order routine laboratory tests under the direction of an attending physician, and assist in other patient care activities such as dressing changes and leg wraps.
