Overview: The Media Lab at Cincinnati Children's creates educational visual aids for various audiences within the hospital. Our studio is located onsite at the hospital and we produce medical illustrations, animations, content for AR/VR apps and games, 3D prints, and more. If at least ONE of these fields interests you and you've recently graduated with a background in art and animation, please consider applying. Even though most of our work is 3D animation, we have a strong preference for 2D illustrators and animators for this position. This position is an in-office/remote hybrid model. Wednesdays and Fridays will be remote and mon/tues/thurs is in-office.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To produce 2D and/or 3D animations and illustrations for use in medical education projects. Coordinate with medical content experts (physicians, nurses, researchers) to develop visuals for use in education, research, and patient care. Responsibilities could include brainstorming, storyboarding, animatics, Illustration, 3D modeling and texturing, 3D print prep/ production/cleanup.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate with their manager for daily operations. Maintain an organized system of projects. Coordinate with content experts (physicians, nurses, researchers) to develop models in production. Collaborate with project teams to plan, analyze, organize, and execute assigned projects. Meet with employees, consultants, and/or vendors, to assess effectiveness of product imagery and presentation needs.
Software we use: Our medical animators have expertise in Autodesk Maya, as well as digital sculpting software such as Mudbox or Zbrush. Video editing experience in Adobe Premiere or equivalent software. Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and other 2D software.
Qualifications
Required: Experience in 2D Illustration AND 3D/2D Animation
Preferred: Anatomy or biology coursework (not required)
