Mechanical/Hvac Estimator Jobs

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for preparing and submitting accurate project bids on time, using their knowledge and experience of HVAC systems to provide detailed estimates for commercial construction projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND EXPECTED RESULTS:

1.Connect and collaborate with key clients for targeted design -build or design assist pursuits.

2.Function as a bid captain guiding the estimating team with specific deliverables.

3.Prepare accurate estimates encompassing pertinent information as well as defining assumptions and clarifications to our clients related to cost items not reflected in project documents.

4.Meet or Exceed client expectations.

5.Build & maintain great client relations through consistent communication and face to face engagement when needed.

6.Company sales increase while maintaining profitable margins.

7.Prepare consistent and thorough take-offs.

8.Have a thorough understanding of the specs, drawings, and bid document when applicable.

9.Prepare detailed scope letters that reflect a clear understanding of the projects as well as communicate areas of concern to the clients that are not reflected in our estimate.

10.Bids to be finished in alignment with bid instructions.

11.Collaborate with internal team to incorporate fabrication strategies into cost estimates.

12.Assess routing of duct and pipe on plan and spec projects and evaluate alternate solutions for a more competitive take-off.

13.Look over all documents for all bids before bid time to make sure all items are covered for a complete and clear scope of work that meets the requirements of the bid documents.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

1. Ensure bids are complete and competitive

2. Ensure sub-tier quotes are complete and accurate

3. Ensure Intech is responsive to general contractors and subcontractors

4. Provide highest quality work with both clients and Intech’s best interests in mind

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Commercial HVAC Estimator

2. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and materials

3. Proficient in Software/ Computer programs and general office equipment

• Bluebeam Revu PDF Software
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)

4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills

5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team

6. Understanding job specific items and a thorough understanding of the specs, drawings, and bid documents

7.Have a good understanding of current market conditions & fabrication strategies

8. Scrub drawings to rout duct and pipe for a more competitive take-off

9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

10. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

11. High School Diploma or equivalent.

12. Knowledge of SMACNA, CMC and local codes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Prolonged sitting and standing. Required eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Work is performed in an open office environment.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $125,000
