Job Description
What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a Mechanical Construction Project Manager to support the expansion of the Nevada Gigafactory. The product portfolio is expanding with never-built-before production lines, such as the Semi, and increased 4680 battery cell production volume at a scale which was once thought to be impossible to reach. Our environment is fast-paced and incredibly exciting. You will manage subcontractors, coordinate with internal Tesla Construction team and will be asked to work cross-functionally, interfacing with Engineering, Procurement, Commissioning, Facilities and manufacturing engineering while tracking a project's schedule and budget.
What You’ll Do
  • Enforce and maintain high quality standards for document configuration control. Ensure all RFI’s are incorporated into final Record drawings at project close-out
  • Employ a can-do attitude, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned to the project’s goals
  • Conduct constructability review of design packages
  • Lead a team consisting of Superintendents and Project Coordinators
  • Ensure Change Control Management is adhered to for all new scope of work
  • Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control requirements are achieved
  • Interface with engineering team, manufacturing teams, procurement, and commissioning teams
  • Conduct Lessons Learned during and at the conclusion of each project
  • Identify project risks and opportunities and actively manage through-out the project life cycle
  • Promote a safe and quality driven culture, both project and company wide
What You’ll Bring
  • At least 10 years of experience in the mechanical field and 5 years’ experience as a Project or Construction Manager
  • Excellent written and verbal communication & presentation skills
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, MBA or PMP preferred
  • Capacity to go above and beyond to support Tesla’s mission
  • Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring new ideas and drive to continuously learn
  • Willingness to get your hands dirty to complete objectives and lead your teams through challenging projects
  • Proficiency in Construction baseline development, change control, cost/schedule performance and variance analysis
  • Previous experience on $25M+ project
  • Ability to provide material take offs and estimates from construction drawings and to read, interpret, and manage changes to Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Comprehensive understanding of ASME Piping Code and / or SMACNA HVAC Standards
