Job Description

Materials Manager - Greater Memphis


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring material costs, delivery timing and quantity of materials based on a production schedule
  • Guide Buyers and Planners
  • Strategic and Tactical inventory and procurement decisions
  • Responsible for early supplier involvement activities as well as strategic supplier selection based on the best combination of quality, cost, delivery, lead time and reliability.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to manipulate large files and macros.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner to support high volume manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership of Supply Chain personnel
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related discipline
  • Excellent communication skills; candidate must be comfortable providing briefings at all levels of management
  • Solid understanding of lean principles to effectively create, implement and monitor process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to effectively lead and team with multiple functional groups to reach a common objective Demonstrated experience with new product introductions and negotiations with suppliers.
  • Ability to influence decisions downstream and upstream.
  • 4 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 6 + years of progressive work experience in sourcing programs, negotiations, etc.
