Job Description
Position Overview:
Novelis is the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, producing an estimated 19 percent of the world's flat-rolled aluminum products. We work alongside our customers to provide innovative solutions to the aerospace, beverage can, automotive and high-end specialty markets.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Novelis has approximately 11,600 employees in 33 operating facilities on four continents and is investing $2.5 billion to build a new low-carbon recycling and rolling plant in Bay Minette, Alabama. The highly advanced facility will serve growing demand for aluminum beverage can sheet in North America. The new facility will also serve the automotive market, where aluminum is the fastest growing material as automakers make plans to achieve their sustainability goals. It will aim to be net carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2, be powered primarily by renewable energy, use recycled water and be a zero-waste facility.

The Material Expeditor works with the purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Responsibilities

  • Review any premium freight required on inbound materials & components, or on outbound freight
  • Report short-term customer operating changes, current delivery status, avoidable unplanned freight, inventory level and any material / component shortages to the attention of the team
  • Oversees shipping and receiving functions related to purchased parts and finished goods
  • Participate in accountability meeting daily
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges
  • Communicate any potential missed shipments via phone call to Site Construction Manager
  • Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts and finished goods

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to coordinate delivery of supplies according to priorities and specifications
  • Managing inventory of materials by maintaining records of incoming and outgoing shipments
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with ability to take initiative
  • Ability and willingness to work in a multicultural team with multifunctional experts
  • Verifying that materials have been received by the appropriate department within an organization according to specifications
  • Ability to build relationships with internal collaborators and suppliers
  • Bachelor degree preferred or a combination of experience outlined
  • Expedite the movement of priority items and follow up on overdue material, keep production controllers and work area supervisor informed of material status.
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, preferably for capital projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP Procurement knowledge and experience
  • Experience in a multinational company

Location Profile:
Novelis’ newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile, AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola, FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying, advanced careers in modern manufacturing and become fully operational in 2025. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
