The Carbon Market Advisor is a new role in Chevron New Energies (CNE) that will lead the analysis and communication of carbon market trends and information for our Offsets business. Key accountabilities of the role are to provide in-depth analytical guidance based on previous knowledge and resourceful research of carbon market trends and information to inform and support development of evergreen business strategies and executive communication. The role will be responsible for developing and driving a market intelligence platform that delivers insights that inform commercial decision making, such as competitor/stakeholder trends, market dynamics, supply/demand, pricing, technology and regulatory/policy drivers. The role will interact with multiple functions and teams within CNE and across Chevron, including Corporate Affairs, Trading, Corporate Strategy, Communications, relevant Chevron business units and other stakeholders to gather data and provide analysis, input and advice on a range of offsets topics. This position reports to Marisa Hamsik – General Manager, Strategy & Market Insights, Offsets & Emerging.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Leverages networks to identify trends and inform thinking, for example industry analyst firms, quality standards bodies, net zero initiatives and offset standards/registries.
• Engages with multiple functions and teams within CNE and across Chevron to gather data and provide analysis, input and advice on a range of offsets topics.
• Participates in and supports external engagements, such as conference attendance, executive speaking opportunities and communications.
• Develops and drives market intelligence to inform commercial decision making, such as competitor/stakeholder trends, market dynamics, supply/demand, pricing, technology and regulatory/policy drivers.
• Participates in and supports corporate affairs efforts, such as helping prioritize and address key issues or policy engagement in select geographies.
• Works with the commercial technical team on offset quality trends, including tracking methodology and standard developments and market implications.
• Provides analysis and insights to inform and support development of evergreen business strategies and executive communication.

Required Qualifications

• Exceptional analytical and verbal and written communication skills
• 7+ years working in carbon markets in analytical or investment roles
• Bachelors degree in sustainability, business, communications, engineering or related relevant field.
• Experience working in dynamic business environments and ability to synthesize information and deliver concise insights to leadership.
• Extensive network in carbon markets, climate policy and/or climate finance

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years working in carbon markets in analytical or investment roles
• Masters degree in sustainability or related field

• The anticipated pay scale grade for this position is [22-24] and the anticipated salary range for this position is [$128,400 – $256,300].
