Job Description
Job Summary


The Manufacturing Trainer will provide On the Job Training (OJT) to new hires and will provide reinstruction and refresher training to assist employees with improving quality and performance. This position plays a vital role in preparing new employees for their new position; facilitates new hire onboarding and guides them through learning the business, evaluating skill sets, as well as setting the expectation of our employees in the workplace.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Ensures the new employees are aware of output expectations for the jobs they are doing
  • Continuously monitors the progress of employees after they have entered the production environment
  • Completes Training Checklists with new employees in accordance with operating procedures
  • Serves as solid resource for new hires for questions and support to assist in the new hire assimilation into the workforce
  • Coordinates completed training information with Manufacturing and Human Resources
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures
  • Provides feedback to both production and human resources on activities and observations on progress of new hires and employee concerns
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Works with current employees to either reinforce training or conduct retraining as necessary
  • Conducts follow-up touch point meetings with all new employees
  • Participates in Continuous and Process Improvement initiatives
  • Coordinates with Supervisors Leads and Employees to gain knowledge of work situations that may require additional training for employee(s)
  • Communicates with supervisor and department supervisors regarding any issues related to trainees under their instruction
  • Reads and interprets work instructions and process procedures
  • Evaluates progress of each trainee during the training period; identifies strengths and weaknesses of trainees and provides feedback to the trainee on their progress; documents this progress and reports out to management
  • Trains new hires and existing employees on a variety of manufacturing processes at workstations and in the classroom, including, but not limited to documentation handling, assembly methods, and equipment operation (setup, operation, cleaning, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Ensures/verifies new employee work assignments and gets them to the machine for timely shift and break transitions
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of current manufacturing processes and production methods
  • Ensures that the materials presented in the training programs reflect the most recent process updates
  • Establishes and maintains a positive learning environment and responds to the individual needs of trainees.
  • Coordinates with manufacturing and human resources to prepare and deliver onboarding for new employees
  • Ensures that the training schedule is being adhered to
  • Remains updated on all changes in procedures and regulations
  • Prepares new employee “tool” kits needed for them to start in their new position i.e. gloves, knifes for molding
  • Observes new hires and assists with educating and developing them to ease their transition to the production floor


Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Language skills Able to read, write, speak and comprehend either English or Spanish
  • Ability to work and promote safety of oneself and other coworkers. Ability to recognize and communicate unsafe practices to management for continuous improvement of the work environment
  • Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work overtime to support production schedules as required
  • Dependable and prompt for start of the shift and return from breaks or lunch periods
  • Able to lift, push, pull a maximum of 35 lbs. multiple times a day floor to waist level
  • Must have solid time management skills and the ability to meet goals and deadlines
  • Detail and quality oriented
  • Bend and stand in difficult positions in order to train employees correctly
  • Understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Minimum 1-year prior experience in manufacturing environment; prefer plastics manufacturing in assembly, blow molding, or injection molding
  • Must have solid attention to detail
  • Minimum height requirement of 60 inches
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Work environment Manufacturing environment is hot and humid in summer months, cold during winter months. High noise level requires use of hearing protection
  • Math skills Basic

  • Language Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience Prior training experience in a manufacturing setting
