The Payload and Ground Systems business sector is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Technician (Soldering) to assist with operations in general manufacturing to solder and assemble precision electro-mechanical products such as gyros and gear train mechanisms. This position is based out of the Oxnard, CA site.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Notate usage, traceability, pot life, and out time controls on all adhesive materials used
- Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware
- Tooling preparation and release application
- Works with engineers in conducting experiments
- Handling and managing fragile composite materials
- Determines and assists in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process
- Reading and understanding manufacturing blue prints and shop planning
- Perform rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
- Report data and interface with other employees and departments
- Performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in assembly, set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
- Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness
Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
- Must have experience in soldering
- High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years additional education and/or manufacturing or mechanical experience
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
- Ability to be on feet for up to various hours each day
- Must be a US Citizen
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
- Ability to be on feet for up to various hours each day
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have experience in soldering
- High School diploma or equivalent with 4 years additional education and/or manufacturing or mechanical experience
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cranes and rigging, forklifts, and similar manufacturing equipment
- Prefer J-STD-001 soldering certification and/or NASA-STD-8739.3 solder certification
- Ability to multitask, prioritize
- Experience or familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance issues
- Able to read, write and work to written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings
- Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel)
- Experience with composite bonding and electronic soldering is not a requirement but a plus
- Demonstrated Mechanical Ability
- Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
- Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace, Automotive, composite, industrial)
