Job Description
JPMorgan Real Estate Americas - Head of ESG drives ESG strategy for the platform including our decarbonization roadmap and resilience initiatives in collaboration with the U.S. Real Estate ESG Taskforce. The Head of ESG is at the forefront of industry trends, regulations and reporting requirements with the ability to translate them to actionable priorities across product types and phases of an asset's lifecycle. The new hire will lead a team of dedicated ESG resources to execute a shared vision.


Key Responsibilities


  • Serve as internal subject matter expert and support employee education
  • Refine ESG standards for developments (e.g., roof loading for solar, power capacity for EV charging)
  • Interface with ESG stakeholders at JPMorgan Chase Bank and JPMorgan Asset Management
  • Collaborate with real estate acquisitions and asset management on identification and execution of ESG strategies including data collection, onsite green power, building certifications, resilience initiatives and decarbonization pathways
  • Engage with joint venture partners on ESG strategy and implementation
  • Spearhead a system to prioritize, track and standardize metrics for ESG projects across product type, region and fund through the Real Estate Americas' Investment Committee and Asset Strategy Review processes
  • Represent JPMorgan at relevant industry bodies including ULI and NAREIM; maintain deep industry relationships with peers
  • Collaborate with global real estate technology team to identify and pilot emerging technologies
  • Spearhead external ESG engagement; maintain prominence at industry events including speaking roles and present to the firm's clients; be responsible for client-facing reporting related to ESG
  • Embed sustainability practices into our investment process and corporate culture with a fiduciary mindset
  • Evaluate evolution of ESG accounting requirements and impacts to private funds
  • Oversee reporting to industry bodies such as GRESB with third party providers
  • Lead US Real Estate ESG Taskforce, the multidisciplinary, governing body responsible for setting platform wide ESG strategy
  • Convert ESG priorities to actionable tools that can be used to aid execution (e.g., check lists, best practices)
  • Supervise relationships with external service providers


Preferred Skills And Experience


  • Knowledge of green building certifications including LEED, BREEAM, FITWELL, Energy Star
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in US real estate ESG related field
  • Strong familiarity with GRESB, PRI, TCFD and accounting standards
  • Experience with US real estate sustainability project management and execution


Preferred Education


  • Master's degree with a focus on Real Estate, Sustainability, Engineering, Architecture or related field
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP
  • Bachelor's degree


Compensation


Base Range 300K - 350K
