Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Director of IT, the Manager of Technology Support will be responsible for managing the overall efficient functioning of Fox and STHM IT integrated systems in the three buildings, Alter Hall, Speakman Hall, 1810 and occasionally outside the Fox Complex or off-campus as required. They will provide effective operations of all teaching and learning facilities, including room set-up, monitoring and maintenance. Be proactive rather than reactive.

They will be responsible for managing, maintaining, repairing, and imaging all desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals and related hardware and software for the school. This includes computer lab PCs, specialized labs, smart classroom PCs, email stations, breakout room PCs, conference room PCs, and any desktops, laptops, or peripheral hardware and software used by faculty and administrative staff. The Manager of Technology Support will evaluate software and hardware; provide support for a variety of computer systems running Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems; and provide helpdesk support to all the constituents via phone, office visits, and one on one consultations where required. Occasional travel to off-campus sites and satellite offices (TUCC) and weekend support are required. Provides on-demand troubleshooting and solutions for technical issues in classrooms, conference rooms, and special events settings. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as information technology, audio-visual technology, or hospitality management. At least 5 years of IT/AV experience in corporate, higher education, or hospitality-related environments. Experience with a variety of AV equipment, including projectors, sound systems, and computers. Experience with AV systems like AMX and Extron. Experience with digital audio DSP skills and wired and wireless audio video. Experience with web conferencing/events support and supervision using Zoom, MS Teams, and Skype for Business. Experience with class capture monitoring, hardware, and software support. Experience with TCP/IP networking protocol and troubleshooting. Experience with software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 and other Microsoft software. Hands-on knowledge of ADA software and hardware. Ability to Provide IT support remotely. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • * Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and manage trouble. calls from faculty, staff, students, or guests who are experiencing technical difficulty during lecture, class time, or presentation.

  • Extensive knowledge of IT and AV equipment, including computers (Windows PC, laptops, or Mac), AV systems like AMX and Extron, projection systems, digital audio systems, switching and control systems, and associated multimedia equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with various audiovisual technologies, such as projectors, lamp replacement microphones, cameras, computers, integrated control systems, wired and wireless peripherals, and video recording systems.
  • * Understanding of LAN and WAN technology, including wired and wireless networks.
  • * Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • * Familiarity with Windows 10/11 and Mac OSX, iOS and Android mobile devices, Microsoft Office 365 applications, and current social media tools and software.
  • * Familiarity with web conferencing applications (Zoom, MS Teams, Skype, and other web conferencing tools).
  • * Ability to provide primary AV support for marketing, recruitment, and any type of special event for the Fox School. Some events may require travel and on-site management.
  • * Ability to be flexible in schedule and work weekend and evening events as needed.
  • * Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills to diagnose a problem and determine steps necessary to an effective solution.
  • * Demonstrated attentiveness to detail and skill to follow up on unresolved issues.
  • * Create and maintain written operational instructions and manuals for equipment/room operations.
  • * Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote). The duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
