H&W: This position is eligible to receive a Health & Welfare Benefit Rate per hour on all hours paid up to 40 hours per week and not to exceed 2,080 hours per year.

Most Of the Time, You Will:
- Manage food service budget (food and equipment inventory) and produce reports.
- Supervise and inspect the work of other employees.
- Supervise, train, and inspect detainee food service staff.
- Manage the daily operations of the food service in a creative manner.
- Develop and implement food services policies and procedures following professional standards and the facility's guidelines.
- Review menus, supervise food prep and storage, and maintain. equipment, records, and sanitation.
- Monitor and maintain company quality assurance and control in the food production areas.
- Supervise, provide training, and inspect work performed by detainee food service staff.

Minimum Requirements
- Experience in institutional cooking in a correctional setting preferred.
- The selected candidate must obtain a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement License and meet the certification and licensing requirements. This will be provided by Karnes County Detention Facility.
- Demonstrated personnel interactions, communication skills, and problem solving techniques.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years of management experience in a food service environment.
- Requires extensive knowledge of the practices and materials used in food service procedures. Must have successful work history of coordinating the demands of a food service operation, displaying a thorough knowledge of administrative techniques and personnel policies and procedures.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
Physical Requirements
In this position, you will frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs., bend and stoop, walk, and stand. Additionally, you should be able to occasionally lift/carry and push/pull up to 60 lbs. (or more), reach above shoulder level, drive automatic equipment vehicles, work with machinery, climb, sit, and work in extreme temperatures.
