The Hotel

The Watergate Hotel is centrally located in Washington, D.C., a city of political power, prestige, and elegance is culturally rich with theaters, museums, architectural splendors and unforgettable national memorials. The Watergate Hotel is situated within walking distance of the best the city has to offer.
Strategic Intent
Oversee overall day-to-day operations within the All day and Fine Dining Restaurants and In Room Dining. Maintain an efficient operation of the Restaurants and In Room Dining departments and meet guests' expectations for quality of the product and service. Assist the Restaurant General Manager as requested for long-term planning within each business unit.
Organizational Structure
The Manager, Food & Beverage will report to the Director of Food & Beverage. S/he will supervise the daily activities of the restaurant wait staff and room service servers.
General Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and support for line staff throughout the restaurant and In Room Dining operations.
  • Assist daily departmental meetings and lead line-ups as needed.
  • Communicate all group information/changes to existing information to appropriate hotel associates in an accurate and timely manner.
  • As directed the following additional duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Audit checks when necessary; assist with corrections in MICROS; run shift reports and assist associates with close out when necessary.
  • Attend scheduled food and beverage meetings
  • Develop and update menus, as appropriate
  • Attend pre-conference meetings as needed.
  • Maintain an active presence on the dining room floor, assisting guests and addressing concerns, resolving issues and providing all guests with a distinctly Watergate dining experience.
  • Assist the Restaurant General Manager with the departmental opening of the All Day and Fine Dining Restaurants and the In Room Dining Department; assist with the writing of departmental SOP's under the guidance and direction of the Restaurant General Manager.
  • Attend weekly department head meeting
  • Monitor payroll of department
  • Maintain an active trace system for guest history on their F&B preferences.
  • Revise standard and procedures for department, as necessary
  • Assist with the monthly and weekly forecast
  • Attend daily communications meeting
  • Assist with the training and onboarding of all new associates.
Experience And Requirements
  • Must be proficient with MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MICROS, Opera.
  • Must possess at least 3+ year experience as a supervisor/manager in a luxury hotel food and beverage operation OR upscale/fine dining establishment.
  • Must have strong communication skills with fluency in English required. Those with bi-lingual abilities will be preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or related field is preferred.
  • Must have be a superior organizational skills and strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position such as walking/standing for extended periods of time while on shift; lift/carry/pull/push 25 lbs. +/-.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will include early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays.
