Manager- Food And Beverage Insights And Analytics

You will have responsibility for managing the efforts of the Food and Beverage Business Insights and Analytics team. You will lead the work of multiple Analysts, Data Scientists and Business Intelligence Developers to tell compelling stories with data and guide strategic decisions. You will provide direction for how the team organizes and manages data, develops dashboards and metrics, and partners with the organization to take action based on the insight. You possess a broad base of data science techniques and provide technical leadership to the data science team. You will assist in all facets of the development and production of analytical products. You are responsible for making certain the data and analytic program provides data that is accurate, timely and provides maximum value to the business.

You will report to the Senior Manager of F&B Business Insights and Analytics.

You Will:

• Create data based analysis to provide strategic direction to business leaders of for the Food and Beverage Line of business and other stake holders across the Walt Disney Company.
• Oversee the development of software programs, algorithms, and data pipelines to prepare datasets and features for analysis.
• Hire, develop, and evaluate personnel for Analytics and Advanced Analytics functions.
• Coordinates the activities of multiple analysts, developers and data scientists.
• Direct the activities of the data science and analytics teams to design and build processes, methods, and data assets to analyze food and beverage data.
• Engage with and work collaboratively across partner teams across (F&B LOB) and The Walt Disney Company to identify and quantify opportunities to leverage data.

• Leads analysts, data scientists, and developers to drive a prioritized development schedule, based on a complete and comprehensive understanding of business needs and priorities
• Leads the creation of effective, efficient, and maintainable data pipelines to solve business problems through understanding the application of technical tools and food and beverage systems

• Oversee the analysis of complex business problems
• Drives consensus and buy-in from partner teams and manages the overall prioritization of work to create maximum value.
• Ensures the application of best practices within the Business Insights Team including operationalized pipeline development, extensibility, cataloging and performance tuning.
• Provide expert guidance to leadership on business questions
• Advanced story telling through the creation of graphs and charts that align with the data.

You Have:

• Statistical or Data Science languages such as R, SAS, Python (for Data Science)
• Ability to lead small teams to quickly and accurately analyze data, define data features, and develop analytic approaches to solve novel problems in the business.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Database technologies such as Snowflake, SQL Server
• Preferred Experience with Machine Learning techniques
• Data Visualization and Consumption Tools such as Tableau, Microstrategy, Power BI, Business Objects
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals and teams
• Ability to work rapidly and efficiently in a fast paced and changing environment
• An ability to simplify complex problems, synthesize data, and create compelling narratives to inform decision making
• Scripting languages such as Snowscript, Javascript, VBA, Python
• Ability to manage and develop team members.
• Two (2) years experience managing a Large Enterprise Level Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence and Reporting Team, or Data Science, and Analytics Function preferably for a significant food and beverage business.
• Ability to Troubleshoot and develop root cause analysis
• Preferred Experience with guest segmentation
• Experience working with Cloud platforms/technologies
• Five (5) years total experience
• Machine learning techniques
• Ability to quickly learn new technical systems and processes
• Technical proficiency in three or more data technology subject areas:
• Familiarity with advanced analytics techniques such as regression analysis, clustering, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, p-values, causal inference, Random Forest, Bagging and Boosting Modeling, Time Series.
• Data pipeline technologies and ETL tools and languages such as SQL, SSIS, Knime, Alteryx, Tableau Prep

Education

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or related fields or BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
