HOURS OF WORK: 9:00am - 5:30pm (7 1/2 hours/day)

This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

SUMMARY:
The Manager of Email Marketing will be the owner of customer email products across MTA agencies and build trust and confidence with our customers through publishing helpful, accurate information about our services and initiatives. As this is a new position, this person will design, build, and execute an enterprise-level email marketing program befitting the MTA and its customers. A successful occupant will establish the MTA as an e-mail marketing powerhouse among global transit agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Keeps abreast of best practices, develops roadmap for list growth, customer engagement, QA practices, A/B testing.
• Creates email and other digital content as needed.
• Produces regular email newsletters for customers and edits existing newsletters as needed.
• Reports metrics and campaign performance regularly to key stakeholders and extracts insights from email analytics.
• Works closely with website team and social media team and participates in projects as needed.
• Maintains email editorial calendar.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Ensures integrity of customer data and subscription preferences are honored.
• Owns email strategy across MTA agencies. Builds, develops, and maintains MTA’s customer email program. Ensures consistency of style and quality standards.
• Liaises with key stakeholders in MTA IT and Customer Experience to build and update email systems and templates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong familiarity with using website CMS and publishing page content e.g., WordPress.
• The manager will be the MTA’s expert on customer emails and email newsletters and publisher of email newsletters. Manager will also own the design of MTA customer email templates and update designs based on evolving technology or brand standards.
• Must be able to provide writing samples upon request.
• Experience operating email customer relation management programs like MailChimp, NGP Van, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.
• The manager will have to establish themself as the central owner of customer email, a position that has not previously existed at MTA.
• The manager will have the challenge and opportunity of defining this new role at the MTA and will have to work with stakeholders across MTA agencies to gain access to data and systems.
• Experience A/B testing messages and designs, reporting campaign performance, monitoring spam scores, and identifying KPIs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• At least 2 years’ experience in an email-focused position.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in digital content, communications, marketing, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

As an employee of MTA Headquarters, you may be required to complete an annual financial disclosure statement with the State of New York, if your position earns more than $108,638 (this figure is subject to change) per year or if the position is designated as a policy maker.
