$500 million! Sandoz has eight biosimilar approved globally – including four in the US – and more than ten in the pipe-line. Biosimilar may enable more patients to access advanced biologic medicines earlier, and Sandoz has proven that biosimilar offer significant savings for overburdened health systems. Manager, Business Insights Specialist (BIS) is a key member of the Sandoz Strategic Insights & Analytics team and the commercial team. In partnership with brand marketing, sales leadership, finance, market access and other key stakeholders, the business insights specialist is responsible for using expert market research and analytics to provide meaningful market insights that enable effective, data driven decision-making through reporting. This position is dedicated to support entire Sandoz reporting function for in-line products, both promoted and non-promoted, and upcoming launches. The business specialist must demonstrate ability to work independently proactively to meet business needs and deadlines, and to drive company/business change agenda.
Major Accountabilities
  • Support and manage I&A workstreams: Ensure support to analytics teams (internal and offshore) focuses on critical business questions, drives towards strategic and synthesized insights, and suggests ideas and recommendations that enable better decision-making for the business.
  • Measure & assess effectiveness of marketing & cross-channel initiatives. Develop predictive models to uncover actionable Insights and business opportunities.
  • Maintain full compliance with internal and external guidelines: Stay current on external and internal guidelines, help to develop training and approaches for Integrated Team (where needed) to understand and fully comply with compliance requirements. Collaborate with relevant interval departments and make sure to communicate information across all the key stakeholders.
  • Work across Novartis (US and Global): Partner with other Novartis commercial teams and business partners (e.g., on US cross-divisional initiatives, understanding how they generate/implement insights), departments (e.g., Data Digital, Finance, Managed Markets); develop counseling and working relationships across departments and with Brand team members.
  • Provide hands-on support on a specific brand(s) or topics, ad hoc requests or targeted analysis.
  • Challenge the status quo, explore new data assets, and experiment with innovative analytics to ensure Sandoz has a competitive advantage with robust account-based analytics. Challenge ex-ternal vendors and internal Sandoz teams to think differently.
  • Lead the Sandoz reporting initiatives, including understanding customer’s needs, designing report structure, executing in coordination with the offshore teams. Provides analytical expertise and thought leadership in understanding business performance, defining KPIs, and leveraging internal and external data assets to make better data-driven decisions on where-to-play and how-to-win.
  • Monitor and Analyze performance data and market trends to identify opportunities to improve business performance.
  • Provide franchise and brand specific I&A support: key problem-solving partner to relevant franchise and brands by establishing strong relationships with key business leaders and collaborating with them in understanding their unique business challenges. Translate business needs into actionable insights and analytic-focused initiatives providing solutions and/or recommendations to enable the business excellence.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $136,800.00. and $205,200.00. per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge of Medical and Pharmacy benefit datasets (e.g. Symphony, APLD, internal longitudinal patient services data, etc.). Ability to understand new data sources in a short timeframe, mine and integrate for actionable insights.
  • High business acumen and can synthesize and simplify complex analyses into a clear story and motivate action; influence without authority across various stakeholders to steer towards a solution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering (e.g., Biology, Medical, Biomedical, Bio Engineering), Business, Statistics/Operations Research/Mathematics, Market Research
  • Minimum 4 years in reporting and dashboarding function and/or analytics or related experience involving: framing of strategic questions to be solved, generating insights, synthesizing implications, driving for practical/actionable solutions, measuring impact.
  • Flexible and ability to prioritize and deliver results in short timeline. Excellent organizational, planning, resource and project management skills; experience in working with offshore teams a huge plus.
  • 4+ years of business experience required, with a minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, majority in the US, including specialty pharma experience (injected, infused, biologics, specialty and / or institutional products).
  • Working skills with advanced analytics/Data visualization tools such as Alteryx, R, Python, QlikSense etc. Can work with the data directly, utilize tools to process analyses and package the results in a clear and concise story. Experience in data visualization and dashboard tools like Power BI is a plus.
