Maintenance Supervisor - Major Maintenance
Job Summary:
The Marathon Carson Refinery has an opening for a Maintenance Supervisor Major Maintenance. This position will lead an organization consisting of Coordinators and Planners responsible for catalyst changes, heater de-cokes, tank maintenance, and the refinery demolition program. This position is responsible for safe and effective execution of maintenance work in accordance with Marathon standards. The hours of the position is a 4 - 10 schedule - Monday - Thursday.
Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve problems/barriers to completing planned job per established schedule.
  • Supervise and lead direct reports.
  • Accountable for cost and schedule of Major Maintenance outages.
  • Coordinate with Refinery stakeholders to ensure outage plans are managed effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with other supervisors in Routine Maintenance, Turnarounds, Reliability, and Inspection to maintain safe, compliant and reliable refinery plant operations.
  • Accountable to ensure Major Maintenance outages have appropriate work scope and responsible parties have thoroughly justified discretionary work.
  • Ensure adherence to refinery standards and safe work practices.
  • Provide input into development and implementation of sound maintenance practices.
  • Maintain visible and active field presence to promote safe working environment and ensure adherence to safe work practices. Participate in audits and near-miss/incident investigation. Follow-up on safety issues until closure. Active member of safety committees.
  • Supervise coordinators and planners to ensure work is safely and efficiently executed during Major Maintenance outages, tank maintenance, and the refinery demolition program.
Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
  • Must have a minimum 5 years maintenance experience as a foreman/coordinator or planner/scheduler OR minimum 5 years engineering experience and/or technical specialist in a refinery, petro-chemical or other related heavy industry.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
  • Travel Requirement is 5 % or less.
  • The hours of the position is a 4 - 10 schedule - Monday - Thursday.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have a clean and valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with portfolio management is preferred.
  • Maintenance shutdown planning and coordination experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Management preferred.
