Job Description
The Import Export Logistics Specialist will be responsible for daily logistics and administrative functions related to the execution of logistics workflows, international and domestic transportation Logistics, and customer requirements. This role will be carried out in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation, the International Air Transport Organization, the International Maritime Organization, International Export/Import Customs Regulations and Service Agreements.
Responsibilities:
  • Resolve routine Global Transportation issues with Logistics, Customer Service, Sales, Procurement, or/and Business Units, Project Management, Demand Planning and Manufacturing to achieve committed deliveries to customers (external and internal).
  • Work with customs brokers – DSV, DHL, UPS, & FEDEX - to address any Partner Government Agency flags and escalate when appropriate.
  • Research and resolve day-to-day operational issues as appropriate.
  • Support export shipments by ensuring shipping documents are accurate, and filings are correct and timely. Interface with FedEx and UPS to support the clearance of goods, and to resolve problems or answer questions concerning shipments.
  • Work with various technical experts; engineers, product, and sourcing managers in Lantronix locations to obtain and interpret the data (including specification documents, schematics, product descriptions, and other technical data) necessary for accurate classification.
  • Verify all customer instructions are complete and necessary permits/ licenses are in place as needed to meet country requirements. Create Export documents for international orders. Create Certificate of Origins when requested by the customer.
  • Maintain freight loss damage logs and file insurance claims; resolve insurance and carrier disputes to process settlements.
  • Work with brokers and carriers to provide timely and efficient service to customers.
  • Classify all imported parts under the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS).
  • Provide support for exhibition, hotel logistics and project shipments.
  • Review and assign product descriptions and technical data to determine import/export classification in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). Perform periodic audits to ensure compliance with U.S. regulatory requirements. Maintain Global logistics Reports.
  • Maintain data in systems and operational processes, including but not limited to IFS, Agile, etc.
  • Ensure accurate, timely processing of Freight Invoices paid to Transportation Service providers.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient import and export operations.
  • Prepare price quotes on domestic/international freight. Coordinate freight clearance instruction, type of Bill of Entry and prepare documentation for customs clearance. Prepare necessary documents for domestic/international shipments.
  • Work with internal sources as needed to fulfill Customs requests and notices.
  • Ensure internal/external customer needs are consistently met and assist to resolve inquiries. Coordinate with carriers to ensure timely deliveries. Track, trace, and update the status of daily shipments.
  • Maintaining good relationships with vendors. carriers, brokers, etc.
  • Receive orders/bookings from customers, communicate with customers on shipment status, and resolve issues regarding cargo shortage/damage/ claims.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with incoterms is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experiences in logistics, customer service, logistics specialist, transportation, and import/export regulations is essential.
  • 2-year business degree desirable, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
  • Prior experience with Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings via the ACE Secure Data Portal.
  • Requires 2-4 years work experience with international shipping, customs, import/export, trade/compliance, including knowledge and proficiency with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes.
  • Prior work experience with import entry audits.
  • This position requires a strong attention to detail and highly developed multitasking skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate in a fast-paced culture and be able to work and drive productivity independently. Strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills as well as excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are essential.
