Job Description

The Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which is made up consisting of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has consistently ranked as one of the top ten busiest airports in the nation. Serving more than 120,000 passengers daily, with over 1,200 flights per day, and has a total economic impact of more than $38 billion per year.

The Aviation Locksmith will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various locking systems. The Aviation Locksmith works closely with the Aviation Lock Shop work group within the Facilities and Services Division. These duties will include installing new door locking hardware, replacing damaged locking hardware, providing support to interface locking hardware to the electronic access control system, cutting new keys, provide door unlocking service and performing routine preventative maintenance of locks. This position will provide various degrees of maintenance support to maintain existing facilities associated with Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport and Goodyear Airport. Work hours may include 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedules, nights, weekends, and holidays.

There is currently one vacancy in the Aviation Lock Shop. The Aviation Locksmith will report to an Aviation Superintendent, Sr. User Technology Specialist, or Aviation Supervisor III.

SALARY


$20.64 (minimum) - $25.53 (maximum) hourly / $42,931.20 - $53,102.40 annually

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

  • Knowledge and ability to read blueprints and construction sketches.
  • Two years of experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing lock systems, which includes electronics and removable core cylinder components.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Possess Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA) certification or equivalent.

Experience with:

  • City of Phoenix procurement process.
  • Inventory database administration such as Simple K, Alarm Lock or equivalent.
  • Installation and programming of different electronic locking systems (Trilogy-5300, 6300, PDL), Sargent POE lock (IN120, IN220).
  • City of Phoenix SAP/XPORT work order management system.
  • Setting up master lock systems.
