What You'll Do
As a Loan Underwriter III, you will be view as one of our senior financial professionals responsible for assisting in the loan application process by determining the risk-level of working with an applicant. Your duties include researching a client’s credit, income and assets, reviewing applications based on policy guidelines and performing risk assessment reports. Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensures all loans underwritten will be eligible for sale to end investor and insured by appropriate government agency with adherence to guidelines and statutory limits. Ensures all loans meet program requirements for program selected.
- Underwrites appraisals for all loan types.
- Clears High Impact Alerts in fraud detection tool and reviews processing cleared items to insure misrepresentation risk is mitigated for all loans.
- Handles complex loans and are leveraged to train other less experienced Underwriters
- Provides all follow- up in terms of conditions of initial approval, suspension or decline for all files underwritten and determines acceptability of items received.
- Underwrites loans to determine acceptable compliance with relevant agency, investor and internal guidelines and lending authority limit.
- Maintains maximum 48 hours turn time on all new files, resubmissions and conditions.
- Validates all AUS findings in submissions to determine all findings are met. Obtains second signature from management for all loans exceeding lending authority.
Qualifications
- FHA DE/CHUMS and/or VA/SAR designations a plus
- Jumbo/Non-conforming underwriting experience a plus
- IDHA underwriting experience
- Minimum 5-7 years current underwriting experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
