Transamerica is organized by lines of business (Life Insurance, Annuities, Mutual Funds, Retirement Plans, Employee Benefits, and Financial Assets), which are supported by Transamerica Corporate (Corporate Development; Finance; Internal Audit; Legislative, Regulatory & Policy; Office of the CEO; People, Places & Brand; Risk; and Technology).
Summary
Develops rates and plan designs for group cases within authority limits based on analysis of case experience, industry, and demographics. Supports senior level underwriters by assessing submission completeness, evaluating group profile and census, and developing preliminary rates and proposals on more complex, higher risk opportunities.
Responsibilities
  • Review submissions for completeness, partner with sales to ensure data required to quote is provided.
  • Willingness to learn product portfolio, including objectives, features and pricing elements.
  • Willingness to work on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.
  • Prepare proposal and/or offer information and if needed, coordinate final proposal presentation, including preparation of all required exhibits.
  • Clearly document and communicate reasons/thought processes to support case level decisions.
  • Support Department level reporting and analysis regarding business trends, performance and service levels.
  • Effectively partner with Distribution and Actuarial to evaluate risk and specify conditions under which Transamerica is willing to underwrite group benefits business for both prospective and in force customers.
  • Make effective case decisions while adhering to processes, guidelines and authority limits.
Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, financial acumen and high proficiency in mathematical concepts.
  • A bachelor’s degree; or alternately 2 years of relevant work experience with demonstrated knowledge of rating and/or accounting and underwriting concepts, or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office tools and comfort learning new software tools/applications.

  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of group life, long term disability and/or short term disability products and markets.

**Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation. **
Compensation:
The salary for this position generally ranges between $65,000 - 80,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
Bonus Eligibility:
This position is also typically eligible for an annual bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company Discretion at a rate of 7.5%
