Job Description
Join our friendly and dynamic Literacy Team as a Literacy Specialist and embark on an exciting journey of empowering educators across the country. As a valued member of our team, you will conduct Wilson professional learning programs that will make a significant impact on teachers and students nationwide. This engaging role involves providing training, coaching, and virtual support through various platforms, including in-person sessions, webinars, and distance learning technology. Essential Job Functions
Deliver captivating Fundations® and Just Words® professional learning programs, as part of our comprehensive Wilson implementation plans. Your expertise will ensure instructional fidelity, support effective teaching practices, and enhance student outcomes. These programs can be conducted on-site at client locations or public venues, as well as virtually using web-based platforms.
If you're a Wilson® Credentialed Trainer (W.C.T.), you'll have the opportunity to conduct Wilson Reading System® professional learning programs, including workshops and WRS Level I and Level II Certification sessions, based on your eligibility status.
Collaborate closely with school administrators and Wilson Literacy Advisors to coordinate and schedule professional learning services that meet the unique needs of each educational institution.
Conduct engaging instructor-led workshops and facilitate study group meetings, following clear guidelines and frameworks.
Provide in-classroom coaching and certifications for Fundations and Just Words, following well-defined guidelines and our effective Coaching Framework. During coaching and Facilitator certification visits, help teachers set goals and support their professional growth.
Offer virtual support to educators through our Wilson Virtual Support platform, ensuring they receive the assistance they need in line with our guidelines.
Maintain regular office hours each month to handle various tasks, including consulting with current and former program participants, addressing program and instruction inquiries, attending virtual meetings, managing travel arrangements, submitting expense reports, and keeping stakeholders updated on professional learning delivery assignments.
Collaborate with our dedicated Wilson field consultants (Literacy Advisors) to support the successful implementation of Wilson programs in schools and organizations, as outlined in our implementation plans.
Represent Wilson at national conferences and exhibits, showcasing our innovative solutions and sharing your expertise with education professionals.
Deliver impactful presentations at conferences as an esteemed representative of Wilson, captivating and inspiring audiences.
Work closely with our Professional Learning Implementation Leader to continuously enhance your presentation and coaching skills, ensuring exceptional delivery and effectiveness.
Stay up-to-date with the latest educational trends and activities in the field of literacy, specifically in Prevention/Intervention/Remedial-Dyslexic approaches, K-12 education, and adult literacy.
Foster strong and collaborative relationships with the Literacy Specialist team, Literacy Advisors, Implementation Teams, and the Fidelity Team, working together to achieve our shared goals.
Embrace and uphold the values of Wilson Language Training, contributing to our inclusive and supportive work environment.
Undertake any other duties as assigned, demonstrating your flexibility and dedication to the team's success.
Skills
Minimum Requirements
To conduct Wilson Reading System® professional learning: Possess Wilson Reading System® Level II Certification, and a current Wilson® Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T.) credential would be a plus.
To conduct Fundations® professional learning: Have a minimum of five years of recent Fundations® classroom teaching experience within the past five years. Holding a current Fundations® Facilitator or Presenter credential, along with WRS classroom teaching experience within the past five years, would be advantageous.
To conduct Just Words professional learning: Possess a Just Words Facilitator or Presenter credential, and having WRS classroom teaching experience within the past five years would be beneficial.
Willingness to travel on a weekly basis, potentially up to 70% or more, allowing you to connect with educators nationwide and make a meaningful impact.
Openness to participate in onboarding coaching and fulfill ongoing training requirements, as necessary, ensuring your continuous professional growth.
Strong knowledge of multisensory structured language pedagogy and a natural talent for structured literacy teaching, enabling you to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
Background and experience in literacy, demonstrating your deep understanding and passion for the subject matter.
Outstanding presentation skills, allowing you to captivate and inspire educators through engaging delivery and effective communication.
Experience instructing, guiding, and mentoring educational professionals, coupled with the ability to present to adult audiences with confidence and expertise.
Ability to work collaboratively with both teachers and students, cultivating positive and supportive relationships.
Strong aptitude for providing constructive feedback, helping educators develop their skills and improve their instructional practices.
Exceptional organizational and scheduling abilities, enabling you to handle multiple assignments and projects effectively.
Proven capability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team, fostering a cooperative and inclusive work environment.
Comprehensive understanding of a broad scope of literacy issues, ensuring you can address diverse challenges with knowledge and empathy.
Experience working with school administrators would be a valuable asset, facilitating effective collaboration and support within educational institutions.
Education Or Certification
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is required, establishing a solid foundation for your role.
Master's degree in Education or a related field would be preferred, demonstrating your commitment to ongoing professional development.
Concentration in Reading would be a valuable addition, showcasing your specialized knowledge in the field.
