Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a Legal Secretary I to join the Town Prosecutor's Office!

We work in a fast, paced environment where attention to detail and positive communication skills are paramount. This position supports the prosecutors by being the face of the office at our reception counter, answering emails and requests for essential information, which includes providing complete and accurate cases for their review. Other essential duties include entering items of evidence into cases, copy audio, photos, and video into cases as well as transfer court emails into OnBase and distribute the emails to the correct support staff member. We are seeking a team player as this role will assist other Legal Secretary I's dedicated to specific areas with their work depending on caseload distribution and serve as a back-up.

The Legal Secretary I utilizes the Prosecutor Case Management system (ePros) and Gilbert Police system ILEADS as well as Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS), through AZ DPS, to obtain criminal histories of defendants/victims/witnesses. This position also communicates with victims by sending email or US Mail notices of court proceedings and victim rights as enumerated by constitutional and statutory law.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt – eligible for overtime compensation.

This position requires someone who is great at multitasking and has interpersonal and technical skills. We're looking for someone to provide extensive customer service that often includes working with members of the public, police officers, and court personnel. Written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Qualified candidates must possess the following requirements:

  • One year of experience in a research-based position providing customer service
  • High School Diploma of equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Experience in a legal environment is preferred

This position will close on 5/29/23 at 11:59 p.m. and interviews will take place on 6/5/23. We expect our new hire to start on 6/26/23.
