PURPOSE:
The Senior Lean Practitioner supports the business in achieving and sustaining performance excellence using Lean techniques. Serves as a facilitator of continuous improvement implementation and colleague involvement. Creates and sustains culture change to achieve long-term business strategies. Participates and may lead continuous improvement and/or efficiency projects within the Company, focused on products, systems, operations, and processes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• No direct reports, but this position provides leadership and accountability and influences processes and procedures used by the entire organization.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and efficiency.
• Serve as a facilitator of continuous improvement implementation and employee involvement.
• SME for the following areas of responsibility:
o Kaizen
o TPM/SMED
o Training
o Problem Solving
• Within area of responsibility, analyze current work practices to identify areas for improvement and educate as to how to improve business and manufacturing processes.
• Lead and Coach Kaizen projects
• Ensure Production Volumes, Labor Productivity, Manufacturing Cost Reduction and Quality Improvement is achieved through Lean 6 Sigma methods
• Devise and tests new solutions and roll out new ways of working.
• Drives functional projects, risks, issues, and benefits.
• Performs workplace audits and streamlining process within area of responsibility.
• Process mapping, value stream mapping, identifying inefficiencies in productivity.
• Deploy appropriate methodologies to problem solving and support teams to solve problems. Ensure escalation process for problem solving is effective.
• Advocate for coaching, mentoring, and training teams and champion performance excellence.
• Support the business in establishing “best practices.”
• Ensure that process improvement initiatives are aligned to business requirements.
• Implement root cause analysis, standard work, visual factory, and error-proofing (poka yoke) practices.
• Support the building of a culture of engagement across the business.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Proven ability to lead Kaizen projects to achieve significant waste and cost reduction results.
• Ability to design and implement Takt tine driven pull systems based on standard work.
• Experience leading and mentoring Lean 6 projects.
• Experience leading successful 5S, TPM and SMED programs.
• Outstanding training skills and experience in the areas of Lean and 6 Sigma.
• Ability to lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent planning and organization.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Self-driven & proactive.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• BS in a Business Administration or STEM discipline, or other relevant area.
• 5-7 years of experience of demonstrable experience in Lean Manufacturing.
• Six sigma green belt or equivalent.
Desireable:
• Relevant Masters degree.
• Previous senior-level role in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
• Prior experience in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or consumer products manufacturing industry or in an industry known for sophisticated performance excellence programs, such as automotive manufacturing or aerospace.
• Master certified 6 Sigma Black Belt.
