Position Details:

We are looking for a Lead User Experience Designer to join us in building solutions that demonstrate how Grainger can help our customers better understand their business and meet their goals. You will bring an expert level of design thinking and UX execution to our customer experiences and internal tools by aligning customer, user, and business goals into simple, intuitive experiences.

You will be an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, User Experience Design. You can be located either in Chicago, IL or remotely.


Pay:

This position is salaried and will pay between $133620 - $205530 with a 15% target bonus.

The range provided is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors that are involved in offer decisions include, and are not limited to: a candidate's experience, qualifications, geographical area, and internal equity of the team.


You Will:
  • Translate business requirements and user needs into detailed user flows and annotated wireframes for development.
  • Actively seek out feedback from other UI Designers, UX Designers and UX Director on UX design concepts and deliverables to ensure the best solution is created.
  • Collaborate with other UX and UI Designers to align on UI patterns and introduce new, reusable design patterns to the design system.
  • Understand technical and business constraints to scale designs for iterative release.
  • Communicate design decisions, rationale, and direction when sharing work.
  • Lead review sessions of in progress work with partners (product managers, engineers, business stakeholders), UX team, and leadership.
  • Work with Product Managers, Engineers, User Interface Designers, and UX Researchers to define and create useful and usable solutions for customer and employee facing Grainger digital products.
  • Create strategic design deliverables, customer journeys, and concepts of future experiences.
  • Conduct evaluative user testing, secondary research, and session replay analysis to improve experiences.
You Have:
  • Experience with responsive web, mobile app, and kiosk design
  • Experience designing complex, data-intensive applications
  • 5+ years of UX experience working with an agile product team; corporate B2B experience preferred
  • Experience using and contributing to a design system
  • Proficiency in web and app user experience best practices
  • Expertise in information design, UX design, usability, and accessibility
  • Formal education in Human Centered Design, Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Product Design, or related field
  • Work samples that show how you broke down complexity, empathized with the user, and balanced user needs, business needs, and technical considerations
  • Proficiency in common wireframing tools (Figma, Axure)
