Position Summary
Amylyx is seeking an experienced Lead, Patient and Professional Advocacy, who will play a key role in building and enhancing strategic collaborations in ALS and other neurodegenerative disease areas. The Lead will help identify and bring perspectives from people living with these diseases and from advocacy groups into Amylyx to help shape initiatives and approaches to drug development, commercialization, and access decisions.
This position will bring strong leadership and analytical qualities, and a high level of cross-functional collaboration. This individual will be hands-on in finding solutions that support mutually identified goals with advocacy organizations. The Lead will also be a clear and strategic thinker with the ability to execute in a dynamic organization. This position will report to the Head, Global Patient and Professional Advocacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advocacy and Patient Engagement: Pipeline Focus
  • Aids in identification and execution of appropriate opportunities to collaborate with the patient community, including creating and implementing innovative programs that further shared goals
  • Serves as the internal expert to deliver on patient insights to shape clinical development initiatives for future assets – includes clinical trial design, informed consent and recruitment, scientific messaging, and advisory activities based upon patient advocacy group (PAG) insights
  • Identifies opportunities to build awareness and leadership of Amylyx and to support the global patient communities’ priorities related to disease education, awareness, access and other advocacy issues
  • Identifies and maps key global patient and professional advocacy organizations across the globe for disease areas of interest to Amylyx annually
  • Assists in shaping and executing global strategic advocacy planning and engagement of key groups for pipeline programs
Other Responsibilities
  • Identifies and maps out global tangential advocacy organizations that further the goals of Amylyx, including expanding inclusion, addressing health inequities, and increasing access to care and treatment
  • Works cross functionally to development and implement annual strategic plans for patient advocacy and engagement
  • Helps ensure alignment, consistency and harmonization of advocacy communications, strategy, and tactics across indications and regions
  • Work collaboratively within Medical Affairs, and with Clinical, Corporate Communications, and other teams to ensure timely, consistent, and compliant responses to community inquiries as appropriate
  • Deploys processes, solutions, and tools that will contribute to the effectiveness and success of Amylyx plans based on a clear understanding of the unique lived experience of people living with neurodegenerative disease (i.e., ALS, PSP) and their families,
  • Helps evolve plans to reflect the most current mutual goals between these organizations and Amylyx
  • Facilitates communication between Amylyx and key professional and patient advocacy groups to support communication of transparent and timely information
Requirements
  • Ability to travel (25%) domestic and some international
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., Life Science, Medicine, Pharmacy, Genetics, Social Work) preferred
  • Must be passionate, authentic, agile, and results-driven
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills to effectively manage and drive multiple projects and initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to drive, build, and deepen trust and partnerships with advocacy organization leadership
  • Possess ability to lead and influence without authority and exhibit excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute in a high growth environment with limited infrastructure
  • International advocacy experience a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry experience (rare disease and pharma start-up experience preferred)
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience (life science, advocacy, clinical, social work)
  • Foreign language fluency a plus
  • Must live in the United States
  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance requirements and guidelines
  • BA/BS required, MS preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities
