Job Description

We are seeking an AWS Lead Data Engineer with 5+ years of AWS experience as well as 5+ years within Data Engineering to lead initiatives within an AWS environment on a distributed Data Engineering team.


The right candidate will bring the following:


Must bring 2+ years experience working in collaboration with Lead Developers (Data Engineer, Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Technical Test Lead) as well as the following:

  • Experienced working with a distributed team as well as talking “up” and “across” teams and management/executive teams as needed
  • Collaborates with Data and Solution architects on key technical decisions
  • Provides technical direction, guides the team on key technical aspects and responsible for product tech delivery
  • Lead the Design, Build, Test and Deployment of components

5+ years within AWS to include:

  • Experience using AWS monitoring services like CloudWatch, CloudTrail ad CloudWatch events
  • AWS services - S3, EMR, Glue Jobs, Lambda, Athena, CloudTrail, SNS, SQS, CloudWatch, Step Functions
  • Experience with AWS workflow orchestration tool like Airflow or Step Functions
  • Experience with Kafka/Messaging preferably Confluent Kafka

5+ years within Data Engineering to include:

  • Tools and Languages – Python, Spark, PySpark and Pandas
  • Experience with Secrets Management Platform like Vault and AWS Secrets manager
  • Experience with EMR databases such as Glue Catalog, Lake Formation, Redshift, DynamoDB and Aurora
  • Infrastructure as Code technology – Terraform/CloudFormation

Development environment experience to include:

  • DevOps pipeline (CI/CD); Bitbucket; Concourse
  • Experience with Rest APIs and API gateway
  • Deep knowledge of IAM roles and Policies
  • Experience with RDBMS platforms and Strong proficiency with SQL
  • Deep understanding of networking DNS, TCP/IP and VPN
  • Experience with Event Driven Architecture and OpenSearch
