Job Description
Summary


This role is part of the Program Implementation/Operations team, and will work closely with her/his team members, specifically project managers, budget holders, supply chain manager and the partnership and humanitarian manager; the Programme Development, Quality and Advocacy team, and Finance, and New Business Development Manager. Scope of work includes working on proposals, financial and narrative reporting, monitoring and analysis, and compliance processes.


In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.


What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)


Developing self and others; Working effectively with others (25%)


  • Build relationships with other teams to support the resolution of issues and coordination of deliverables i.e. reports
  • Serve as liaison with the internal departments
  • Support the delivery of capacity building to other teams in the CO and to Partner organisations
  • Collaborate cross departments to collect content and craft proposals by deadline
  • Build relationships with all members supporting SCI in Haiti, the region and centre and support in the escalation of issues if required


Communicating with impact, negotiation and coordination (25%)


  • Engage with and coordinate across multiple stakeholder groups to support the development of high-quality proposals
  • Facilitate award kick off meetings, including a focus on donor requirements and ensure these occur at the start of each award
  • Communicate and coordinate with Member contacts to understand and record any changes related to donor compliance requirements and reporting dates
  • Coordinate and review donor reports including adequate planning to ensure deadlines are met
  • Support the development of partnerships and ensure that there are capacity-building plans in action.)


Compliance (systems, processes, donor)


  • Collaborate with cross functional teams as well as finance department to ensure effective communication of award restrictions
  • Understanding of SCI processes and other key donor requirements and communication and adherence to these
  • Understanding of the Award Management System (AMS) and reporting functions, and ensure AMS is up to date to drive data quality
  • Accountable for driving AMS data completeness and quality for relevant awards


Monitoring and analysis (25%)


  • Work with Operations team and budget holders to develop budgets
  • Conducting of financial analysis
  • Support budget holder understanding of donor budgeting formats
  • Perform monthly BVA reconciliation, expenses projections, interpreting financial policies in order to communicate financial reporting to donors
  • Understanding of Donor Report Code (DRC) budget codes and ability to work with Program team to determine appropriate structure
  • Perform award monitoring processes (financial analysis) and highlight financial issues to Overseers and Budget Holders and perform further analysis to resolve issues identified
  • Critical review of proposal budgets to identify budget lines for review or omitted costs


Portfolio management and strategy (25%)


  • Conduct regular award review processes on designated awards
  • Perform portfolio level monitoring and analysis and follow up issues identified and resolve these
  • Produce management reports and escalate identified portfolio issues in a timely manner


Required Qualifications


  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Highly developed interpersonal French and English communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • University degree in International Development, Business Administration or Finance
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities. Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must
  • Relevant experience managing donor funded projects with International NGO’s particularly those addressing human/children’s rights and those applying partnership approaches
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses
  • Experience managing grants, contracts & sub agreements with knowledge of major funders’ guidelines (e.g. USAID, ECHO, DEVco, BID, CAG, NMFA, SIDA etc.)
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and problem-solving skills to address these
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team


Preferred Qualifications


  • Professional qualification in Business, International Development, Finance/Accounting or similar


Compensation


Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:


  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $60,350 – $67,450 base salary
  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $66,300 – $74,100 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $54,400 – $60,800 base salary


Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location. Employee may be eligible for an incentive program. Save the Children also offers paid vacation, accrued at least 12 days a year, depending on paygrade and length of service, paid safety and wellness leave of at least 1 day per month worked for a full time employee which is pro rata reduced for employees working less than a full time schedule, and at least 10 paid holidays a year. Employees may be eligible for additional bonus compensation.
