Job Description
Description:

The Laser Operator Assistant is responsible for achieving immediate and short-term production objectives laid down by the Laser Supervisor. This position requires near perfect attendance and punctuality. Employees are expected to be in their department area before the shift starts. Reasonable overtime hours may be required in order to meet production needs. This position reports directly to the Laser Supervisor.

Requirements:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drawing and developing new parts and programs.
  • Ensure all parts are produced on time and are of good quality.
  • Accurately count the number of pieces ran.
  • Assist in all operations of Laser Department (banding, bundling, cutting, drawing, and painting of parts).
  • Follow all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents and near misses to supervisor.
  • Verify the tube size matches the sketch before running.
  • Minimize material waste.
  • Responsible for care and daily preventive maintenance on the equipment in use.
  • Assist with paperwork in Laser Department.
  • Load/unload materials onto the laser table.
  • Read and check complex sketches before building the parts. Report errors to supervisor for correction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Follow instructions given by supervisor.
  • Assist in the training of new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
  • Operate Tube Laser Machine and ArTube CAD Program (on-the-job training provided).
  • Responsible for housekeeping in your area and the entire facility

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must obtain forklift certification within 3 months (on-the-job training provided).
  • Team Player.
  • Strong mathematical skills; decimals, fractions, and inch calculations.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Requires the use of hand tools. Must understand usage and applicability.
  • Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16".

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year work history or military service with honorable discharge.

Physical Demands:

  • Manual dexterity to evaluate, modify and operate machinery and equipment.
  • Heavy lifting (50lbs) is required on a regular basis.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
  • Temperature of work environment ranges from 15 - 110°F.
  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools and machinery, and performing repetitive actions.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
  • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours subject to change at the discretion of management. Overtime is required, as needed to support production goals.
  • Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers and management.
