Job Summary
We are currently hiring for a Landscape Designer to join our rapidly growing design and build firm. As a Landscape Designer at CraftScape Creations, you will be a part of an entrepreneurial team servicing luxury residential clientele in Los Angeles, CA.
Daily responsibilities include client communication, project management and design development for the landscape portion of client projects. This is a full encompassing design position that will require you to oversee and execute throughout the lifecycle of a project. This includes communicating with clients to understand their goals, visiting and analyzing the site, designing the space and drafting supporting accompanying documents and plans such as presentation, layout, hardscape, lighting, planting, and construction details.
Please note, this is a full-time position onsite and in the field with occasional flexibility to work from home.
In order to be considered, please submit a resume and portfolio that includes photorealistic images and 3D renders. We are looking to see detailed projects that ideally include Design Development, Construction Documents, Details, Materials and Photos of completed projects.
Responsibilities
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices and advancements in landscape design techniques
- Manage all facets of the project’s process including setting up consultation calls with clients, managing budgeting, conducting revisions, educating the customer when necessary and meeting strict deadlines for each stage of the project
- Prepare and present design concepts, plans and visualizations to clients for review and approval (including 2D plans and 3D digital drawings)
- Assist in the production, organization, coordination and accuracy of construction documents such as technical specifications, cost estimates and bid quantity takeoffs
- Use in-depth knowledge of trees, shrubs, ground covers, perennials and annuals in preparing planting plans and landscape master plans
- Visit client site to conduct site analysis, gather inventory and create a basemap to assess existing conditions for design development
- Develop innovative and sustainable landscape designs and solutions that meet the needs and preferences of clients
- Collaborate with internal team, including build and reality capture teams, to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables (meetings and daily communication)
- Coordinate with contractors during the construction phase to ensure compliance with design plans
- Consult with product manufacturers, evaluate and select construction materials
Qualifications
- Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information System) software for site analysis and mapping
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Design from an accredited institution
- Experience in creating sustainable and environmentally-friendly landscape designs
- Familiarity with plant material availability and selection in the local area
- Possess a compelling portfolio with a variety of work
- Experience in Wrike and Autodesk tools preferred
- Knowledge of local zoning regulations, building codes and environmental regulations related to landscape design
- Ability to collaborate with other design professionals, such as architects, civil engineers and contractors
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Autodesk AutoCAD, SketchUp, Land F/X, 3DMax
- Minimum 3 years of experience in residential landscape design
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage and irrigation principles in landscape design
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to apply design thinking to different scenarios and disciplines
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally visit a project at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
