LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
Planning & Development Services (PSD) will invite candidates to ongoing interviews starting the week of June 19th, 2023. Interviews may take place via remote/virtual or in-person. Job offers for selected candidates will take place shortly after.
THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT AT STEP 1, $87,360.00. County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Comp Ord 1.3.5.
Through operational excellence and attention to customer service, Planning & Development Services (PDS) strives to balance community, economic and environmental interests to ensure the highest quality of life for the public of San Diego County.
The selected candidate for this Landscape Architect position will review landscape and water management designs submitted for permits and habitat restoration projects. The selected candidate will also review and approve landscape plans for compliance with codes and standard; performs landscape and irrigation design work; and consult with other professionals involved in master planning, land use permitting, habitat restoration, re-vegetation projects, and applicable codes.

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
- Job Offer and Background Process begins shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A license as a Landscape Architect in the State of California as defined in section 5615 et seq. of the California Business and Professions Code (the Landscape Architects Practice Act), AND, Two (2) years of professional experience reviewing and approving landscape plans and performing landscape architect duties.

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.
EVALUATION
Qualified applicants will be placed on a nine (9) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental application questionnaire.
