Laboratory Technician Ii - Core Laboratory, 2Nd Shift ($2,000 Sign-On Incentive - For Hires New To Ui)

The Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II position to assist with the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities to ensure a smooth operation. Performs a variety of laboratory tasks related to specimen receiving, processing, sample storage, archiving, data entry of patient information, lab orders, telephone inquiries, and related problem resolution. Responsible for maintenance of laboratory equipment and supply distribution. Provides functional -supervision of shift personnel. This position is 100% time, 4 – 10-hour shifts from 1300-2330, with rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call.

Duties To Include

• Performs phlebotomy.
• Performs or directs routine preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and cleaning as assigned.
• Demonstrates functional supervision by the ability to direct the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities.
• Ensures quality service to clients through communications with external and internal laboratories and support staff.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or
• Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, or
• Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience performing waived testing, including releasing test results.
• Meets CLIA 88 requirements and qualifications to perform waived testing (point of care testing).
• Phlebotomy experience is highly desirable.
