Laboratory Supervisor Jobs

The Pennsylvania State University COVID - 19 Testing and Surveillance Center is seeking a candidate for a testing Laboratory Supervisor Research Technologist. The position will allow supervisory function in any of the COVID testing facilities on the Penn State University Park campus. This includes Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing and Rapid Antigen testing, both of which are regulated by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Labs (PBL).

Job responsibilities include:

• Resolution of testing problems and discrepencies.
• Preparation of reagents
• Helping maintain critical inventories of supplies and reagents.
• Supervision of laboratory testing.
• Specimen receipt, preparation, nucleic acid extraction and PCR.
• Performing PCR and rapid antigen testing for diagnosis on clinical samples received.
• Training of employees.
• Participation in meetings with leadership.
• Scheduling of employees and resolution of employee concerns.
• Maintenance and cleaning of equipment
• Developing and writing of Standard operating procedure (SOPs) and ensuring their compliance.
• Results review and release.
• Ordering of supplies and participation in maintaining critical inventories.
• Resolving specimen issues
• Creating and maintaining training records.
• Preparation for laboratory inspections and audits.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 7 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must meet Pennsylvania Bureau of Labs education/experience requirements.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Weekend and evening hours are required.

This is a limited term, benefits eligible, full-time position funded for 6 months from date of hire with the possibility of refunding.
