The primary function of this position is oversight of Laboratory Testing implementation in the plant including compliance of microbiology lab, equipment, and design with Corporate guidelines, in conjunction with analytical and microbiological testing and data analysis of testing raw materials, water, and work in process, environment, and finished products, including optimization of Cleaning and Sanitization procedures in accordance with Microbiological Control Standard implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor lab supplies / generate purchase orders and reconcile invoices through SAP.
- Manage the Notice of Deviation system to ensure that products requiring an NOD for final release comply with internal procedures.
- Train & develop the micro laboratory staff by using the Competency Development Road Map for Microbiology.
- Generate and update internal Microbiology programs and SPIs.
- Quality Microbiology Lab Supervisor should complete a PSM 100 workshop within one calendar year from hire date/date in position.
- Participate/co-lead the efforts of the plant C&S program team
- Support the Pest Control Program.
- Develop on-site microbiology program for testing raw materials, water, and work in process, environment, and finished products at the Cambridge Lab facility including optimization of Cleaning and Sanitization procedures in accordance with Microbiological Control Standard QS 23 implementation.
- Coach and train facility personnel and laboratory staff in microbiological issues, risk avoidance, hygiene and good housekeeping practices
- Take the lead of Quality Standard # 23 Microbiology Standard in the plant including compliance of Microbiology lab, equipment, and design with corporate guidelines.
- Verify that all finished products conform to Key Release Specifications prior to release.
- The Quality Microbiology Lab Supervisor is responsible for the onboarding and safety training of lab technicians that will be working on or around the PSM covered processes to obtain quality and micro samples.
- Review all micro reports (testing of finished products, water analysis, raw material testing, validation reports, QMIC 0072 test results, environmental testing, etc.)
- Ensure the calibration of analytical instruments, the use of analytical reference standards and the maintenance of the equipment are established and followed.
- Write and schedule for execution IQ/OQ/PQ Protocols for all Microbiology Lab Equipment. Ensure the Installation Qualification (IQ), Operation Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ) of applicable instruments are performed.
- Release Non-antibacterial products in SAP
- Interface with Divisional/Corporate micro group to stay up-to-date on qualification requirements and changes / news update and attends COP Global Microbiology Quarterly meetings.
- The Quality Microbiology Lab Supervisor will work with Operations and PSM Coordinator to ensure that new technicians are in compliance with site policy for working on or around covered processes.
- Participate in change control to ensure micro needs are met. Update Micro Data bases and formula methods as per Global Microbiology and GTC Micro MAPIT’s
- Maintain and update MSDS for all media and reagents.
- Review and follow up action plans from internal and external audits in order to ensure that observations are closed.
- Ensure Microbiology Lab KPI’s are calculated and reported to the Quality Manager on a monthly basis.
- Calculate and upload the MSI (Micro susceptibility Index) for finished product, water system, work in process and raw materials into SAP-PDM on a monthly basis.
- Conduct internal audits to assess level of compliance to the Quality Standards and GMP regulations.
- Conduct, report and support the Water Validation Team and Environmental program / testing for Cambridge plant using relevant QMIC procedures.
- Close the assigned task on the eMOC system by updating Microbiology Lab data bases, ensure that MAPIT are received, micro methods are up to date.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Good team player with good relationship building skills
- Trouble shooting and manufacturing process experience
- Minimum of five years laboratory experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetic or consumer products industries
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or related sciences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or Google Tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong multitasking skills
- Strong ability & knowledge of Statistical Process Control tools

Salary Range $70,000 - $103,000 USD
