Junior Writer/ Editor Jobs

Seeking a Junior Writer/ Editor to develop compelling material to help our clients tell impactful and cohesive stories. As a member of the creative team, this person will support a highly visible government office and create compelling messages and stories in the form of press releases, posters, brochures, tri-folds, guides, fact sheets, media advisories, white papers, articles, feature stories, briefings, and news releases.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Research, conduct interviews, write, edit, and obtain release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements, including electronic, web based, and hard copy material
• Create short and long form content to be used on various mediums, deriving messages from source documents such as strategic plans, government reports, project briefings, etc
• Provide communications engagement support for events to include the development of messages to align with client initiatives
• Engage with a wide variety of subject matter experts to distill and translate highly technical information and ideas into compelling and credible content
• Assist with the occasional creation of basic graphics, photography and video

Minimum Qualifications

• Background in and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud
• Knowledge of Section 508 compliance standards and how to create products that adhere to these standards
• Team player with the ability to lead others or be led
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or marketing and one (1) to three (3) years of related experience
• Understands writing for web best practices, information architecture, and stays up to date on news and media sources
• Energetic, passionate, and intellectually curious
• U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance
• Gifted storyteller, attentive to detail, adept at balancing multiple projects and deadlines; and capable of forging strong relationships with internal and external subject matter experts
