Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Associate Technical Editor and Writer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Sentinel program.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What you’ll get to do:
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials
- Writes rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively using Extensible Markup Language (XML) and adhering to an S1000D specification and instructions to a United Sates Air Force (USAF) customer.
- Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll bring these qualifications:
- 1+ years’ experience writing XML or SGML
- Familiarization of principles, concepts, practices, and/or standards
- Current DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain PAR
- 1 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of formal degree, High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least 3 years of relevant aviation/missile operation/maintenance experience
- Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.
These qualifications would be nice to have:
- Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks
- Experience in utilizing the USAF Flight Manual or Maintenance Manuals
- Experienced with logistics and manufacturing work order systems
- Experience writing in XML/S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications/IETM/Data Module writing (Arbortext, EAGLE, XMetal, or similar program)
- Knowledge of DoD industry practices (TO 00-5-1, Mil-STD-38784, MIL-STD-3048, Mil-STD-1808).
- Experienced in an electronic/avionic field or in a Department of Defense (DoD) maintenance background
- Airframe and Powerplant certified
