This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Junior Data Scientist for our Sacramento, CA office, other California locations will also be considered. The successful candidate will be involved in projects with our Technology Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

• Assists in the delivery of business intelligence dashboards for projects and pursuits
• Assists in the preparation of standard reports and technical work
• Pursues professional development and training
• Seeks mentorship and guidance on solving technical problems
• Begins to develop skills and knowledge base to work on technical skills independently
• Project coordination with other disciplines
• Stays up to date on industry trends and participates in industry groups
• Assists in developing schedules and objectives for own work
• Use of report writing software for the development of reports, such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power BI
• Team Player willing to work in multi-discipline team
• Pursues professional development and training

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and with others.
• Eexperience with Microsoft Excel, BI and other data visualization tools. VBA is a plus.
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
• Strong system analysis skills – data interpretation and explanation of condition, trends etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience working as a data scientist/analyst.
• Excellent oral, written and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in data analytics or three years experience in data analytics
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Visualization tools. VBA is a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical degree
• Engineering / Construction Experience helpful

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $47,200 - $70,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
